Job description

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer serves as a business-facing reporting, analytics, and project delivery partner responsible for leading moderately complex to complex business analysis, reporting, and data-driven initiatives. This role partners with business leaders, stakeholders, technical teams, and end-users to understand business needs, define requirements, coordinate project activities, manage deliverables, and support successful implementation of reporting and business intelligence solutions.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer applies business analysis, project management, data interpretation, and reporting expertise to evaluate business processes, identify improvement opportunities, translate business objectives into actionable reporting requirements, and deliver solutions that support operational performance, leadership decision-making, and improved consumer experiences.

Work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of business needs, stakeholder priorities, project timelines, reporting requirements, data outputs, and operational impacts requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer acts as a liaison between business stakeholders, leadership, technical teams, and end-users to support the planning, execution, and delivery of reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives. This role facilitates requirement-gathering discussions, documents business and functional requirements, develops report specifications, defines project scope, tracks deliverables, manages timelines, and communicates project status, risks, issues, and dependencies to stakeholders.

This role integrates business knowledge and data expertise to ensure reporting solutions align with operational goals and stakeholder expectations. Responsibilities include analyzing business processes, workflows, data needs, reporting outputs, and system capabilities to identify gaps, recommend improvements, and support scalable, repeatable reporting solutions.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer may coordinate cross-functional project activities, support project planning, maintain action item logs, document decisions, facilitate stakeholder meetings, assist with user acceptance testing, validate report outputs, and support implementation readiness and change management activities.

In support of reporting and analytics needs, this role works with data from multiple sources to define required data elements, validate data quality, reconcile outputs, create or maintain dashboards, support recurring reports, and ensure reporting solutions provide accurate, meaningful, and actionable information for business users.

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer begins to influence department strategy by identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes, strengthen governance, increase automation, enhance stakeholder engagement, and improve the delivery of business intelligence solutions. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding business analysis approach, reporting methodology, project execution, stakeholder coordination, technical solution requirements, and prioritization. Work is performed with minimal direction, and the role exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives, approaches, timelines, and deliverables.
