Job description

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator Lead for an exciting opportunity with our client. This position serves as a senior technical resource within the IT organization, providing advanced systems, infrastructure, virtualization, cloud, database, and security expertise. The Systems Administrator Lead will act as a key escalation point for complex technical issues and take the technical lead on infrastructure projects requiring specialized knowledge., * Serve as a senior technical escalation point and provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT staff during complex projects, system outages, and troubleshooting efforts.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for enterprise systems, servers, virtualization, storage, and infrastructure.
  • Manage the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of servers, virtual environments, operating systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Administer and support enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent technologies.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, perform diagnostics, document resolutions, and prioritize incidents based on business impact.
  • Support infrastructure planning and provide technical specifications and documentation for new or upgraded IT infrastructure.
  • Manage and coordinate backup, disaster recovery, data protection, failover, capacity planning, and storage initiatives.
  • Provide administration and support for Google Workspace and Google Cloud Identity, including organizational units, access controls, identity governance, and SSO integrations.
  • Manage and monitor Google Cloud Platform (GCP) resources, including IAM permissions, resource allocation, project governance, and cost optimization.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and configuration management processes to automate cloud provisioning and deployment.
  • Perform regular audits of Google Drive external sharing policies and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls.
  • Collaborate with security teams on vulnerability remediation, system patching, container and virtual machine security, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Perform database administration and provide application support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain architectural diagrams, technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide end-user and IT staff support for operating systems, software, infrastructure, and related technical issues.
  • Participate in evaluating new hardware and software and assist with technical specifications and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in systems administration, database administration, network administration, or a related infrastructure discipline.
  • Advanced experience with enterprise virtualization technologies, including VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, preferably GCP, Azure, and/or AWS.
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID, identity governance, access management, and security controls.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar scripting and infrastructure automation technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise storage technologies, including SAN/NAS, backup, disaster recovery, and failover.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation, patch management, and security best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship without direct supervisory responsibility. Technology Doesn’t Change the World, People Do.®
