Job description

The Senior Digital Banking Full Stack Engineer leads the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of secure, scalable web and mobile applications for digital banking products and member experiences. The primary focus is hands-on development of responsive online banking experiences and mobile applications, supported by secure API and microservices development. The position requires strong expertise in JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks, mobile-enabled development, .NET, C#, ASP.NET MVC, and ASP.NET Core. The engineer partners across product, architecture, security, operations, and banking teams to deliver reliable, accessible, high-performing, and customer-focused digital banking capabilities

Here’s what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support of responsive web and mobile applications for online and mobile banking.
  • Develop responsive, accessible, and high-performing online banking web applications using JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Develop mobile applications and mobile-enabled experiences for iOS and Android platforms, with a focus on usability, performance, security, and consistent cross-channel experiences.
  • Design and develop secure, reusable, and high-performing RESTful APIs and microservices that enable web and mobile digital banking experiences, including account information, transactions, payments, transfers, alerts, and customer servicing.
  • Build and maintain independently deployable microservices that support web and mobile applications, including service contracts, resiliency, observability, logging, and performance monitoring.
  • Implement server-side components, business logic, data access, and integrations using .NET, C#, ASP.NET MVC, and ASP.NET Core.
  • Integrate digital banking applications with core banking platforms, payment services, identity providers, fraud and risk services, and third-party digital banking solutions.
  • Translate digital banking, member, security, privacy, regulatory, fraud-control, and operational requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Apply secure software development practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, privacy, vulnerability remediation, and protection of sensitive financial data.
  • Drive software quality through code reviews, automated unit and integration testing, UI and API testing, performance testing, and engineering standards.
  • Apply AI-assisted development and engineering automation tools responsibly to improve coding efficiency, test coverage, documentation, defect analysis, and delivery quality while following security, privacy, and governance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex defects, production incidents, performance issues, and integration challenges across web, mobile, API, microservices, data, and platform layers.
  • Contribute to CI/CD automation, cloud-ready architecture, environment management, and reliable release practices for web, mobile, API, and microservices components.
  • Lead technical implementation efforts, coordinate cross-team dependencies, mentor engineers, and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, architecture decisions, and support procedures.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with primary hands-on experience developing web and mobile applications and supporting APIs and microservices.
  • Strong full-stack application development experience using C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET/.NET Core, and modern web development technologies.
  • Experience developing responsive web applications using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and web services, including API security, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
  • Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures, including designing scalable, reusable, and loosely coupled application components.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL, including database design, stored procedures, query optimization, and application data access patterns.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including cloud-native application development, deployment, scalability, and monitoring.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, automated builds, deployments, and modern DevOps practices using tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of software architecture and design patterns, including layered architecture, microservices, API-first design, event-driven integration, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with application security best practices, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, secure API development, secrets management, encryption, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted software development and Generative AI technologies, including the use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and an understanding of opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into applications and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with automated testing, unit testing, integration testing, code quality, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
  • Experience with application monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, New Relic, Splunk, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodologies, code reviews, release management, and production support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across front-end, application, API, integration, database, and cloud layers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with product, architecture, QA, security, infrastructure, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Digital banking, financial services, or fintech experience is preferred, including experience with online/mobile banking platforms, payment systems, third-party integrations, or other customer-facing financial applications.
  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in field relevant to role (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
