Job description

The WIP (Work-In-Process) Coordinator is responsible for monitoring, tracking, and controlling manufacturing jobs throughout the production lifecycle within an AS9100-certified aerospace machining environment. This role ensures accurate ERP system transactions, maintains production flow visibility, supports on-time delivery performance, and coordinates communication between machining, quality, purchasing, outside processing, shipping, and management., · Production & WIP Management

· Monitor and track all open manufacturing work orders through the ERP system.

· Maintain real-time visibility of job status, queue times, bottlenecks, and routing progression.

· Ensure jobs move through machining, inspection, deburring, outside processing, and final shipment according to schedule.

· Coordinate priority changes with Production Control and Operations Management.

· Identify aging WIP and escalate risks affecting delivery commitments.

· Verify work travelers, routers, certifications, and required documentation remain with jobs at all times.

ERP System Responsibilities

· Perform accurate ERP transactions including:

· Labor reporting

· Operation completions

· Job moves

· Material issues/returns

· Inventory adjustments

· Queue tracking Maintain ERP data integrity and support continuous improvement of manufacturing data accuracy.

· Review shortages, open operations, and overdue work orders daily.

· Generate and distribute WIP status reports, shortage reports, and production metrics.

· Cross-Functional Coordination

· Communicate daily with:

· CNC machining departments

· Quality Assurance

· Purchasing

· Outside processing vendors

· Shipping/Receiving

· Engineering

· Coordinate expedited jobs and customer priority requirements.

· Support scheduling meetings and production planning reviews.

· Assist with outside processing logistics and supplier turnaround tracking., Example Daily Activities

· Review all hot jobs and overdue operations.

· Update ERP job statuses based on shop floor activity.

· Coordinate movement of jobs to inspection or outside processing.

· Resolve traveler/documentation issues.

· Attend morning production meetings.

· Generate open WIP and shortage reports for management.

· Follow up on delayed operations impacting customer deliveries.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year

Requirements

Do you have experience in Microsoft Excel?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in ERP-driven manufacturing operations, preferably within aerospace, defense, or precision machining industries., · High school diploma or equivalent.

· 2+ years experience in manufacturing coordination, production control, scheduling, or ERP administration.

· Experience in a machine shop, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environment.

· Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and routing structures.

· Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.

· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

· Excellent communication and follow-up abilities.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.

· Preferred Experience in AS9100 or ISO-regulated manufacturing environments.

Familiarity with:

· Job travelers

· Routers

· Outside processing

· First Article Inspection flow

· Lot traceability

· Experience with ERP systems

· Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing terminology and production control concepts.

· Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· On-time job movement

· ERP transaction accuracy

· Reduction in aged WIP

· Schedule adherence

· Inventory accuracy

· Outside processing turnaround performance

· On-time delivery support

Physical Requirements

· Ability to walk the production floor regularly.

· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

· Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine shop conditions.
