Job description

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that support Cytiva’s digital products and innovation initiatives. This role contributes directly to delivering scalable, reliable, and compliant software systems that enable customers to accelerate life sciences research and product development, driving measurable impact across the organization.

This position reports to the Director, Digital Software Engineering and is part of the Digital Products Development located in Karlsruhe, Germany and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure the software remains current and competitive.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining desktop software applications
  • Proficiency in modern C++ programming
  • Hands-on experience with Qt framework for user interface and application development
  • Experience using build systems such as CMake or QMake for complex, multi-library software projects

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in scientific software or life sciences domain
  • Experience with chromatography simulation software
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
