Benefits & conditions
n \nBring your experience. Find your people. Build what matters. Help Build Whatâs Next in Aviation.\n \n At Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) we believe great work happens when talented people have the trust, resources, and support to do their best work.\n \n Weâre looking for an \nAviation Architect who wants more than a role on a massive airport project. This is an opportunity to join an established Architectural Team with a growing aviation practice and \nhelp build that practice from the ground up. Our work today is focused on regional airports, including terminal buildings, hangars, administration and operations facilities, renovations, and other aviation-related infrastructure. Over time, we expect that platform to grow-and we want the person in this role to grow with it.\n \n If youâre an architect who enjoys working closely with engineers, solving real-world problems, talking with clients, and seeing projects move from concept through construction, this could be a great fit.\n \n \nWhat Youâll Do\n \n Youâll work as a key member of our architecture team, partnering closely with our aviation engineers and other A/E professionals to deliver thoughtful, practical projects for airport clients.\n \n Your work may include:\n \n \n
- Leading architectural design for regional airport projects, including terminals, hangars, administration buildings, maintenance facilities, and renovations.\n
- Working side-by-side with aviation, civil, structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines to develop coordinated solutions.\n
- Taking projects from early planning and programming through design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.\n
- Developing concepts, presentations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.\n
- Participating in client meetings and helping translate airport needs into buildable solutions.\n
- Developing an understanding of FAA, airport, building code, accessibility, and other applicable requirements.\n
- Visiting project sites and working directly with owners, contractors, and consultants.\n
- Helping identify opportunities with existing and prospective aviation clients.\n
- Contributing to the growth of our aviation practice, not simply executing work that has already been won.\n
\n \nThis Role Has Room to Grow\n \n Weâre intentionally building this practice with the long term in mind.\n \n You wonât be walking into a fully built-out aviation architecture department with layers of management between you and the work. \nYouâll have the opportunity to help define what our aviation practice becomes.\n \n As the practice grows, we see opportunities for this person to take on increasing responsibility for:\n, n \nAviation experience is highly valued, but weâre open to the right architect coming from an adjacent market-particularly someone with experience in transportation, public facilities, industrial, institutional, or other technically demanding project types.\n \n \nThe Person We Hope to Find\n \n The right person probably doesnât need to be the person who has already designed the worldâs largest airport terminal.\n \n In fact, \nyou may be looking for something different from that.\n \n Youâre someone who wants to be close to the work. You like figuring things out with engineers. You enjoy talking to clients. Youâre comfortable wearing a few different hats. And youâre excited by the idea of joining a growing practice where \nyour contribution can directly influence where the business goes next.\n \n You may already know aviation inside and out-or you may have strong architectural fundamentals and be ready to make aviation your specialty.\n \n Most importantly, youâre looking for a place where there is \nroom to build, room to lead, and room to grow.\n \n \nWhere Youâll Work\n \n This is primarily an office-based role, with opportunities to get out into the field and stay connected to the projects and people youâre serving. In our GMC Atlanta Office, you will work in amazing diverse culture, along with having access to an onsite gym and a cafĂŠ.\n \n \nTravel: Up to 20%, including project site visits, client meetings, professional development, and other project-related activities.\n \n Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, construction environments, pollutants, chemicals, insects, and other site conditions. Appropriate protective clothing and equipment will be provided and required as appropriate.\n \n The role also includes periods of desk and computer work, as well as occasional bending, twisting, crouching, and other physical movements. Employees may occasionally need to lift up to 25 pounds.\n \n \nWhy Join Us?\n \n \n
- Build something: Help shape a growing aviation architecture practice rather than simply inherit an established one.\n
- Work across disciplines: Collaborate directly with experienced aviation engineers and the broader A/E team.\n
- Have client exposure: Build relationships with airport owners and decision-makers.\n
- See your work get built: Work on practical projects with tangible impact on the communities and airports we serve.\n
- Grow with the practice: Your role and leadership opportunities can expand as our aviation portfolio does.\n
- Make an impact: In a growing practice, your ideas and initiative matter.\n
\n \nInterested?\n \n If youâre an architect who is excited about aviation, enjoys working with engineers, and wants the opportunity to \nhelp build something rather than simply step into something already built, weâd like to hear from you.\n \n \nWhy GMC?\n \n At GMC, we believe communities are built by people-not companies. Weâre one of the Southeastâs largest privately held architecture and engineering firms, but our size isnât what defines us.\n Our people do.\n \n We bring architects, designers, engineers, planners, environmental professionals, surveyors, and disaster recovery experts together to solve complex challenges and create better outcomes for the communities we serve. Our work touches everyday life-from schools, parks, hospitals, and commercial developments to clean water, safe streets, resilient environments, and everything in between.\n \n And while the work matters, how we work matters just as much.\n \n Weâre guided by four values:\n \n \n
- Quality - We care deeply about the work we put into the world.\n
- Integrity - We do the right thing for our clients, colleagues, and communities.\n
- Creativity - We believe the best solutions come from curiosity, collaboration, and fresh thinking.\n
- Care - We invest in our people, our clients, and the places weâre fortunate to serve.\n
\n At GMC, your experience has a place, your ideas have a voice, and your leadership can make a difference. Come build something meaningful with us.\n \n GMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including individuals with disabilities and veterans.\n \n PI287600601â, âhiringOrganizationâ: {â@typeâ: âOrganizationâ, ânameâ: âGoodwyn Mills Cawood LLCâ}, âjobLocationâ: {âaddressâ: {âaddressCountryâ: âUnited Statesâ, âstreetAddressâ: âNot specifiedâ, â@typeâ: âPostalAddressâ, âpostalCodeâ: â30339â, âaddressLocalityâ: âAtlantaâ, âaddressRegionâ: âGeorgia - GAâ}, â@typeâ: âPlaceâ}, âindustryâ: ââ, âidentifierâ: {â@typeâ: âPropertyValueâ, ânameâ: âGoodwyn Mills Cawood LLCâ, âvalueâ: â287600601â}, âbaseSalaryâ: {â@typeâ: âMonetaryAmountâ, âcurrencyâ: âUSDâ, âvalueâ: {â@typeâ: âQuantitativeValueâ, âvalueâ: âCompetitiveâ, âunitTextâ
