Front End Engineer (React/TypeScript) - 12 months - Leeds/Manchester/London - Inside IR35

We are seeking a Front End Engineer to join the Internal Developer Platform team at a leading UK banking and financial services organisation, on a 12-month hybrid contract (2 days on-site) in Leeds, Manchester, or London. You will shape stories and tasks within agreed features, then carry out secure software and infrastructure-as-code development, largely automated testing, and implementation. Live service support is the top priority, so you’ll help customers, resolve incidents, and deliver long-term problem fixes., * Own, lead, and drive a feature of the internal developer portal, building Front End applications in React (JavaScript or TypeScript)

• Prototype and develop reusable components, write automated test scripts, perform code reviews, and create technical documentation
• Build end-to-end automation tests as part of the release framework (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
• Integrate RESTful APIs into Front End applications and build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
• Apply security best practice, including secrets management within CI/CD workflows
• Contribute to the platform roadmap and to shared code libraries
• Support live services and build supportability into the application day to day
• Lead technical conversations with stakeholders from senior management to SMEs, and mentor junior colleagues

• Extensive experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js
• Jest/React Testing Library unit testing and automated functional testing (Playwright, Cypress)
• Experience building and deploying applications to the cloud (Azure and GCP)
• Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipeline experience
• Terraform/Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and DevOps experience desirable
• Backstage experience desirable
• Strong communication skills, comfortable leading by example and hands-on in the code
