Job description

  • Hardware & Specialized Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and support enterprise-level network hardware including Cisco routers, switches, adaptive security appliances (ASA), firewalls, cryptographic equipment, and regular backup configurations.
  • Manage and support enterprise network infrastructure including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network), and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) configurations to ensure reliable connectivity and optimal performance.
  • Design and deploy scalable network solutions utilizing routing protocols like OSPF, BGP, EIGRP; load balancers; high availability architectures; and network switching strategies to support business needs.
  • Base & Enterprise Network Operations: Install, configure, monitor, and maintain LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure and wireless access points across military facilities to ensure maximum uptime, optimal traffic performance, and secure network access.
  • DoD Compliance & Security Infrastructure: Implement, enforce, and audit organizational network security policies, access controls, and strict compliance with DoD Information Assurance (IA) standards, STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides), and RMF (Risk Management Framework) protocols.
  • Implement and oversee network security measures including PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), IDS (Intrusion Detection System), firewall policies, SSO (Single Sign-On), encryption protocols, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Secure Remote Access & Segmentation: Manage enterprise VPN connections, remote access infrastructure, and complex VLAN segmentation to maintain secure boundaries between networks.
  • On-Site Collaboration & Vendor Relations: Coordinate directly with base communications squadrons, military personnel, ISP representatives, defense contractors, and external vendors to execute hardware upgrades, resolve circuit issues, and manage system migrations.
  • Incident Response & Advanced Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity failures, provide rapid root-cause analysis, and execute disaster recovery processes for mission-critical classified and unclassified systems.
  • Monitor network health and implement proactive measures for network security and performance optimization.
  • Audit-Ready Documentation: Maintain hyper-precise network architecture documentation, topology maps configuration records, equipment inventories, and cryptographic logs in strict adherence with military audit readiness standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in computer networking with a strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, SFTP, FTP, HTTPS.
  • Hands-on knowledge of networking equipment-routers, switches, firewalls and other network devices.
  • Familiarity with network security frameworks such as Cisco ISE, PKI implementations, VPN configuration (IPsec), SSL/TLS encryption standards.
  • Ability to perform vulnerability assessments; conduct system hardening; utilize scripting languages like Python or Shell Scripting for automation tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues quickly while maintaining excellent documentation practices aligned with ITIL standards.
