Engineering Manager (Java/Mobile/Cross-platform)

My client is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Back End service layer for a major iOS and Android travel application., * Lead delivery of the mobile application service layer supporting iOS and Android platforms

• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and drive engineering best practices
• Own architecture, design, development and deployment of scalable Back End services
• Lead technical governance across development teams, vendors and stakeholders
• Drive CI/CD, automation and cloud-native engineering practices
• Establish code review, release management and engineering quality standards
• Mentor engineers and lead team growth, performance and technical maturity
• Support hiring and development of engineering talent

• 10+ years software engineering experience
• 2+ years leadership experience managing engineering teams
• Strong hands-on Java 17+ or Kotlin development experience
• Strong Spring Boot and microservices architecture experience
• Experience with Gradle build automation
• Experience with GitHub Actions and/or CircleCI
• Strong cloud platform experience
• Expertise in observability, monitoring and alerting tools such as Sentry
• Swift (iOS) experience essential
• Android Kotlin experience essential
• Agile delivery experience (Scrum/Kanban)

Desirable

• Enterprise-scale application development experience
• Travel, loyalty or customer-facing product experience
• Automated testing and performance testing experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
