Job description

As an Estimator, you’ll analyze customer blueprints, specifications, 3D models, proposals, and development information to develop accurate material, tooling, labor, and manufacturing cost estimates. You’ll work closely with teams across Maysteel to understand the best way to manufacture each product and develop a competitive solution for our customers. This is an on-site position located in Allenton, Wisconsin. Candidates must be able to work on-site in Allenton. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates from blueprints, specifications, 3D models, and concept/development data
  • Evaluate manufacturability, tolerances, materials, tooling, and production processes
  • Partner with Engineering and manufacturing teams to identify the best and most cost-effective way to build a product
  • Develop creative design and manufacturing alternatives to reduce cost and improve competitiveness
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities by applying Maysteel’s manufacturing best practices
  • Communicate directly with customers to resolve questions and clarify requirements during the estimating process
  • Work with internal teams to leverage Maysteel’s capabilities and processes
  • Update estimates when customers request design or scope changes
  • Prepare design-for-manufacturing and cost-reduction proposals
  • Identify and document required tooling
  • Clearly document quote assumptions, deviations, exceptions, and other information needed to support accurate pricing
  • Track estimates from initial request through completion and maintain visibility to project status
  • Have the opportunity to provide direction and support to junior estimators as your experience grows

At Maysteel, you’ll gain exposure to the entire manufacturing process and work with people across Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Tooling, Finance, and Business Development. You’ll develop a deeper understanding of how products are designed, manufactured, and priced and how those decisions ultimately impact our customers and our business. As Maysteel continues to grow, so do the opportunities for our people.
