Job description
The Applications Development Technology Senior Lead Analyst is a senior-level technical leadership position responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering high-performance, enterprise-scale regulatory reporting platforms and distributed data processing systems. This role serves as a key technical authority driving the end-to-end development lifecycle for mission-critical regulatory data pipelines. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise in core enterprise Java architectures, large-scale distributed computing with Apache Spark, and advanced Oracle database design. Additionally, this individual must demonstrate a strong understanding of financial regulatory reporting frameworks and thrive under the pressures of strict regulatory delivery deadlines, high-visibility milestones, and demanding performance SLAs., Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Architect, design, and implement resilient, distributed data processing applications and robust microservices using Java, Apache Spark, and Oracle Database.
- Direct the architectural evolution and optimization of end-to-end regulatory reporting pipelines handling multi-terabyte data volumes with low latency and high data integrity.
- Establish robust design patterns, engineering best practices, and enterprise standards for program analysis, coding, testing, automated CI/CD, debugging, and deployment.
- Lead performance tuning, query optimization, Spark memory management/partitioning, and database indexing across complex data sets.
Regulatory Reporting & Domain Delivery
- Analyze complex financial data models, regulatory mandates (e.g., Basel III/IV, FR Y-9C, CCAR, MiFID II, Trade Reporting), and compliance requirements to build highly accurate calculation and reporting engines.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Compliance, Risk, and Regulatory Operations stakeholders to translate evolving business and regulatory rules into scalable technical specifications.
- Manage and deliver under time-sensitive regulatory filing deadlines, effectively handling high-pressure scenarios, production escalations, and audit reviews with structured problem-solving.
Strategy, Collaboration & Team Mentorship
- Provide technical governance, mentor senior engineers and developers, conduct comprehensive code reviews, and foster engineering excellence.
- Allocate and prioritize sprint workloads, plan cross-functional deliverables, and advise development teams across global technology hubs.
- Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Data Governance, and Production Operations to align on target-state architectures.
- Influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively with senior technology leadership and external audit/compliance parties.
Risk, Controls & Governance
- Appropriately assess risk when business and technical decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding client data and assets.
- Ensure full adherence to enterprise data governance, cyber security standards, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance policies.
- Lead disaster recovery (DR) planning, high availability (HA) architecture, and operational resilience readiness for critical tier-1 reporting applications.
Requirements
Required Technical Experience & Expertise
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise Java development (Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Multithreading, Concurrency, Performance Tuning).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in distributed big data processing using Apache Spark (Spark Core, Spark SQL, PySpark/Scala, caching strategies, cluster optimization).
- 5+ years of intensive database development experience with Oracle Database (Complex PL/SQL, partition strategies, query execution plans, indexing, performance tuning, and schema design).
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise (SME) in Regulatory Reporting systems, financial data models, accounting ledgers, or risk computation within banking/capital markets.
Professional & Leadership Competencies
- Proven track record of operating effectively in high-stress, deadline-driven environments with stringent audit and regulatory oversight.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguous or fast-changing regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership, team mentorship, technical roadmap planning, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with modern DevOps tooling (e.g., Jenkins/Tekton, Git, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, SonarQube, Liquibase) and automated testing frameworks.
Education & Certifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent engineering discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certifications (Desirable): Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Databricks/Spark Certified Developer, AWS/Google Cloud Platform Certified Data Engineer/Architect.
