Practice Application Architect

Job Description The IT Practice Applications team operates within Global IT Application and Engineering Services and supports a diverse portfolio of firm critical applications. This interim requirement is primarily intended to strengthen senior coverage within IT Practice Applications. The primary focus of the role is to provide senior technical support, operational ownership, and day-to-day management across the IT Practice Applications portfolio, acting as a trusted deputy to the Principal IT Application Engineer and helping to ensure continuity of service, technical oversight, and delivery. Proven application engineering expertise together with strong supervisory capability is essential. Supervision, Coordination and Deputy Support * Supervise and coordinate assigned Practice Applications work, keeping the team focused on incidents, changes, projects and improvements. * Support the Principal IT Application Engineer as a trusted deputy, providing continuity, informed challenge and reliable operational and delivery cover. Practice Applications Support and Engineering * Act as technical owner, or delegated technical lead, for assigned applications and services, with accountability for operational health, lifecycle management, supportability and continuous improvement. * Provide senior hands-on support across IT Practice Applications, resolving incidents, requests, problems and technical tasks through the firm’s service management platform. * Plan and implement application changes, upgrades, patches, configuration updates and deployments across DEV, TEST, UAT and PROD environments. Targeting between $80-115 an hour on a W2 basis. Skills and Requirements Operational Improvement, Security and Governance * Reduce repeat incidents through root cause remediation, monitoring, health checks, standardisation and automation. * Work closely with Information Security, Architecture, Infrastructure, Service Management, Project Management, Business Analysis and vendor teams. Essential Core Technical Capability * Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and enterprise identity and access concepts. * SQL Server and practical T-SQL querying using SQL Server Management Studio. * PowerShell or another scripting language used to automate operational and engineering tasks. Desirable Software Engineering and Automation Contribution * Contribute to scripting, tooling, integrations and application enhancements using appropriate technologies such as PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, C#/.NET or Microsoft Power Platform. * Use Git and Azure DevOps practices for source control, work tracking, peer review, build and deployment activity where applicable. * Work with specialist engineers from the IT DevOps and Automation and IT Data and Integration Teams without being expected to act as the principal authority in every discipline. Additional Software Engineering Capability (Beneficial) * C#/.NET application development or support of internally developed enterprise solutions. * Microsoft Azure services, particularly Functions, Logic Apps, API Management and application integrations. * Azure DevOps Boards, Repos and Pipelines, including Git and pull-request workflows. * Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate or Power BI. * Python, advanced PowerShell, integration development or API troubleshooting. * Frontend technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript or React. * Responsible use of AI assisted development tools, with validation, testing, peer review and data handling controls.

Additional Industry Related Experience (Beneficial) * Legal CRM or relationship management platforms such as InterAction. * Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
