Job description

  • Technical ownership. Build and ship features across our SaaS platform, writing clean, tested, well-documented code that our customers and internal teams rely on. You’ll take real tickets from day one and own them from design through deployment.
  • Growth with support. Work alongside senior engineers who invest in your development through code reviews, pairing, and mentorship, so your technical skills grow with every sprint you ship.
  • Engineering excellence. Help keep our codebase healthy by writing unit and integration tests, contributing to CI/CD pipelines, triaging bugs, and improving the reliability and performance of the systems that power our analytics products.
  • Collaborative partnership. Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and fellow engineers to turn ideas into working software, and be a dependable voice in standups, design discussions, and cross-functional projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and write clean, scalable, production code (our backend team primarily works in Python, SQL, SAS, and C#; our frontend team works in React).

  • Refactor code for improved performance, stability, and scalability.

  • Develop automatic tests.

  • Work with our team of analysts and data scientists to integrate, generalize, and prototype mathematical and data science models within production software.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively (orally and in writing) with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • The software development team follows an agile scrum process, and all team members are expected to contribute to technical design reviews, implementation strategies, operational system support, and sprint planning.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Information Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
  • Demonstrated academic or professional software coding experience in one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, .NET, Java, C++, C#, Kotlin, Rust, or JavaScript, including object-oriented design.

  • Strong background in programming related to applied mathematical, engineering, and physical sciences.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter who has implemented full-stack solutions (front-end and back-end development).

  • Candidates with the drive, work ethic, and desire to learn and quickly advance in their careers.

  • Knowledge of referential databases, such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets is a plus.

Benefits & conditions

We offer generous, fair compensation, calibrated to your experience and structured to grow with you, along with a comprehensive benefits package:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Parental leave for growing families.
  • FSA, HSA, and dependent care accounts.
  • 401(k) with a 3% non-elective contribution.
  • Flexible PTO to take time when you need it.

Join a team that values your work, supports your growth, and invests in your future!

We offer a competitive salary range of $78,000 - $91,000. Compensation is flexible and tailored to your qualifications, relevant experience, and location of hire. But the perks don’t stop there - we’re committed to creating a workplace where people can do meaningful work, grow their careers, and still have a life outside the office. You’ll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, flexible work hours, a collaborative environment, and real opportunities for advancement.

Collaboration is in our DNA, and we thrive on the energy of working together - the spontaneous ideas, face-to-face teamwork, and culture you can only build in a room.

But we also value the focus and freedom that remote flexibility brings. That’s why our Boulder, CO office and Raleigh, NC workspace run on a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).
