Job description

We’re looking for a Data Governance & Quality Analyst to join our Data Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data-focused professional to play a key role in ensuring Torus’ data is high quality, trusted, well-defined and secure across the Group, helping to drive better decision-making, improved services and stronger business performance.

As Data Governance & Quality Analyst, you’ll support the delivery of our Data Governance Framework across the organisation, working closely with colleagues to embed governance into day-to-day operations and improve the way we manage data throughout its lifecycle. You’ll use your analytical skills to identify, investigate and resolve data quality issues, support data owners and stewards, and promote best practice across the Group. Working collaboratively with teams across Torus, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our data remains accurate, consistent and fit for purpose while supporting system improvements, reporting and large-scale business transformation projects.

Working Pattern:

This is an agile working role, with an expectation to attend The Observatory office in Liverpool city centre every Tuesday, as well as a minimum of two additional days per week in the office. The successful candidate must be able to work across all Torus Group offices as required to meet business needs. Flexibility will be required to support the demands of the role and the wider business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the Data Governance Manager in embedding the Torus Group Data Governance Framework across the organisation.

  • Attend Data Governance Stewardship Committees, supporting data owners and stewards to identify, understand and resolve data quality issues.

  • Escalate data governance issues through the appropriate governance channels where required.

  • Analyse and profile data to identify trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement.

  • Work collaboratively with data owners and stewards to resolve data issues and improve information management practices.

  • Provide practical support for projects involving system integrations, migrations and large-scale system implementations.

  • Provide guidance to colleagues on data definitions, data dictionaries, governance standards and best practice.

  • Support the development and maintenance of data quality rules, standards, measures and targets.

  • Work with the Business Intelligence team to support the development of data quality reports and dashboards.

  • Maintain organisational data dictionaries and ensure definitions remain consistent across systems, reports and dashboards.

  • Champion the principles of data governance and promote good data management practices across the Group.

  • Support the review of systems, reports and performance measures to improve the collection, management and use of organisational data.

  • Promote compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, equality, diversity and information governance requirements.

Requirements

Degree-level education, relevant professional training and/or equivalent experience.

  • Good knowledge of data governance, data quality and data management principles.

  • Understanding of Data Maturity Frameworks and the principles of effective data governance.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and issues within large and complex datasets.

  • Experience using Excel and Business Intelligence reporting platforms.

  • Knowledge of data quality processes and GDPR requirements.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify innovative and practical solutions.

  • Experience building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.

  • The ability to manage change, adapt priorities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Experience within social housing or a similarly regulated environment would be advantageous.

  • A motivated, resilient and proactive approach, with a genuine passion for improving data quality and governance.

Interview process:

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person interview at our Liverpool City Centre Office.
