Job description

I’m working with a digital consultancy delivering secure digital transformation programmes across government and national security. They’re looking for a Cloud Engineer to help build and automate scalable cloud environments, working with modern AWS and open source technologies. This is a hands-on role within a multidisciplinary Agile team, supporting projects where secure, reliable software delivery makes a real difference. Hybrid with 3 days on site in either Cheltenham or London.

What you’ll be doing

  • Automating application and infrastructure provisioning, configuration and deployment within highly secure environments.

  • Building and improving CI/CD pipelines to support reliable software delivery.
  • Deploying and managing containerised applications across AWS.
  • Embedding security best practices into infrastructure and deployment processes.
  • Working closely with developers, technical specialists and customers to solve problems and improve delivery.

Requirements

You’ll have practical experience in cloud or DevOps engineering, with a strong background in Linux administration, scripting and automation. The technology stack includes:

  • AWS and CloudFormation

  • Amazon ECS, Docker and Kubernetes
  • CI/CD automation, ideally DroneCI
  • Git, using GitHub or GitLab
  • Linux and Bash scripting
  • Ansible

You’ll also understand how to implement and automate security controls across cloud and container environments. Experience with AWS CodePipeline and CodeBuild would be an advantage.

Alongside your technical skills, you’ll be comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum team, communicating with customers and collaborating across different disciplines. A practical approach to problem-solving and an interest in continuous improvement will suit this team well.
