GIS Analyst

Insight Global is seeking a GIS Technician/Analyst for a one-year contract supporting the Town of Addison’s Public Works and Engineering Department. This individual will help maintain and enhance the Town’s GIS program by updating and managing spatial data, producing maps, supporting GIS applications, and ensuring the accuracy of infrastructure asset information. The role will be a mix of office and field work, providing an opportunity to support projects that directly impact the Town’s public infrastructure and operations.

On a day-to-day basis, this individual will work closely with the GIS team to verify, update, and maintain GIS data used across public works functions. Responsibilities include editing geospatial datasets, performing GIS database maintenance, creating maps and exhibits, conducting spatial analysis, and supporting integrations between GIS and other business applications. The analyst will also spend time in the field using GPS equipment to verify existing infrastructure assets and collect new asset data when needed before processing and updating records within the GIS environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with ESRI software, GPS field collection tools, and SQL Server. They should be comfortable balancing field data collection with office-based GIS analysis and data management activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting public infrastructure, working with spatial data, and contributing to the effective management of municipal assets in a collaborative, small-team environment., · 1-3 years of hands-on GIS experience supporting public works, utilities, engineering, or municipal operations · Experience with ESRI GIS technologies, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online · Experience editing, maintaining, and validating GIS datasets, feature classes, and geodatabases · Experience collecting and verifying field data using GPS equipment · Working knowledge of SQL Server and the ability to query, update, and manage GIS-related data · Experience creating maps, exhibits, reports, and other cartographic products for business users · Understanding of GIS data management, spatial analysis, and asset mapping workflows Ability to troubleshoot GIS data issues and support GIS applications used by internal stakeholders · Experience supporting local government, public works, engineering, utilities, or transportation departments · Familiarity with Trimble GPS equipment and associated data collection software · Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise · Basic scripting or automation experience with Python · Experience integrating GIS data with other business systems and applications · Familiarity with CAD drawings and GIS/CAD data conversion Knowledge of asset management, infrastructure mapping, or utility network data
