Sr. Mobil Application Developer

The Senior Mobile Application Developer will design, develop, test, release, and maintain the OnlyPlants cross-platform mobile application for iOS and Android. The role will work primarily in our existing React Native, TypeScript, and Expo stack and will collaborate closely with product, UX/UI, backend engineering, and business leadership to translate product requirements into intuitive, scalable, and reliable mobile experiences.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior engineer who can work independently, troubleshoot the development environment as well as the application, and take ownership of features from initial concept through implementation, automated testing, pull request review, release, and ongoing enhancement. This person should be comfortable operating in a startup environment where priorities can evolve quickly without sacrificing engineering discipline.Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the OnlyPlants cross-platform mobile application for both iOS and Android using React Native, TypeScript, and Expo.
• Build new mobile features and functionality based on product requirements, user feedback, and business priorities.
• Collaborate with product, UX/UI, backend engineering, and business teams to define and deliver new capabilities.
• Translate designs and wireframes into responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing mobile interfaces.
• Integrate the mobile applications with RESTful APIs, backend services, databases, authentication systems, and third-party platforms.
• Develop secure user authentication, profiles, push notifications, location-aware experiences, camera/image functionality, content, and other mobile capabilities as required
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and reusable TypeScript and React Native code that follows established repository standards.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using the project’s established automated testing patterns, including Jest and HTTP-boundary mocking, and perform functional validation when appropriate.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application, development-environment, build, performance, usability, and production issues across the mobile stack.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, battery usage, and overall user experience.
• Participate in code reviews and follow the team’s GitHub issue, branch, pull request, CI, and review standards.
• Manage mobile builds, release readiness, and deployments through Expo/EAS and the appropriate Apple App Store and Google Play distribution processes.Monitor application performance and user feedback and recommend improvements.
• Stay current with emerging mobile technologies, development frameworks, security practices, and industry trends.
• Contribute to technical architecture and engineering decisions within the existing React Native/Expo application as the OnlyPlants platform evolves.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment with changing priorities and aggressive development timelines.
• Take ownership of assigned work and communicate progress, risks, dependencies, environment blockers, and technical challenges early and clearly.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional mobile application development experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and deploying production cross-platform mobile applications.
• Strong professional experience with React Native and TypeScript, including hands-on experience with Expo or a comparable React Native application toolchain.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs, backend services, authentication, and asynchronous client-side data management.
• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, UI/UX principles, state management, caching, UI/UX principles, responsive design, and cross-platform behavior. Experience with Git and GitHub-based development practices, including feature branches, pull requests, code review, and CI checks.
• Experience independently setting up, debugging, and troubleshooting mobile development and build environments, including Android and/or iOS tooling. Understanding of mobile application security, authentication, secure storage, and data protection best practices.
• Ability to work independently, , own technical outcomes, and collaborate effectively with a small cross-functional team., * Experience shipping and supporting a cross-platform consumer mobile application across both iOS and Android.
• Working knowledge of native iOS/Swift and/or Android/Kotlin concepts for troubleshooting platform-specific build or runtime issues. Experience with cloud services such as AWS and with mobile applications that consume cloud-hosted APIs and services.
• Experience with Expo Application Services (EAS), GitHub Actions, or comparable mobile build and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience implementing push notifications, analytics, payments or commerce, location services, camera/image functionality, or other consumer mobile capabilities.
• Experience publishing applications through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Experience working for a startup or in an entrepreneurial environment.
• Experience working on consumer-facing or community-driven applications.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated mobile application testing, and test-driven or regression-focused development practices. Understanding of accessibility, mobile usability standards, and inclusive interaction design.
