Job description

Serve as one of the company’s first Founding Engineers and work directly with the founders * Design, build, ship, and iterate on core product and platform functionality * Own backend and/or AI infrastructure initiatives end-to-end * Build and maintain highly scalable backend systems using technologies including Golang, Node.js, and TypeScript * Develop and maintain infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure * Leverage LLMs and AI coding tools to accelerate product development and engineering velocity * Potentially design and build AI agents and related AI-powered product capabilities * Make foundational technical and architectural decisions as the platform grows * Operate with significant autonomy, urgency, and ownership in an early-stage startup environment * Quickly learn new technologies and solve ambiguous technical problems as company and product needs evolve Job Description: Insight Global is seeking an AI Founding Engineer for a rapidly growing, early-stage technology startup. This individual will join as one of the company’s first Founding Engineers and work directly alongside the founders to build and scale the core product, backend systems, and AI infrastructure. The team is open to exceptional Backend Engineers, AI / AI Infrastructure Engineers, or engineers who span both disciplines. This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants true ownership at the ground floor of a startup, including meaningful influence over technical architecture, engineering practices, and product direction. The environment is highly entrepreneurial and execution-focused, so the ideal candidate is an exceptional builder who moves quickly, thrives in ambiguity, learns new technology rapidly, and is energized by an intense early-stage startup environment. The position offers a competitive $150K-$200K base salary plus a significant 1-2% equity stake in the company.

Requirements

Strong hands-on software engineering background, with minimum 2 years of experience and maximum 5 years of experience * Experience in backend Engineering, AI Engineering / AI Infrastructure, or a combination of both * Demonstrated ability to build and ship production-quality software independently * Strong technical fundamentals and ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies * Experience working with modern backend systems and infrastructure * Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure * Comfortable leveraging modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code or comparable tools * Extremely hands-on and willing to operate as an early Founding Engineer in a fast-moving startup * Must be comfortable with startup culture and 996 level of involvement * BS and/or MS in related field, ideally from a top 20 university * Strong Golang skills - most of the stack is built in Go * Node.js / TypeScript experience * Prior startup experience, particularly at an early-stage company * Experience with LLMs, AI infrastructure, or production AI systems * Experience building AI agents or agentic workflows * Strong understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure * Experience at a major technology company combined with evidence of strong ownership and startup-style execution * Experience using AI-assisted development tools heavily in day-to-day engineering
