Job description

Your Role: We are seeking an Enterprise Data Architect to lead the strategy and architecture for enterprise data, ontology, and AI platforms. This role will establish scalable standards and solutions across Palantir, Snowflake, and AWS, creating a strong semantic foundation for analytics, operational workflows, and AI solutions. You’ll partner with technology and business leaders to define architecture standards, patterns, and roadmaps that enable secure, governed, and cost-effective use of enterprise data., * Own the enterprise Ontology strategy and architecture on Palantir Foundry/AIP: object model design, semantic standards, domain ownership, and governance of Ontology evolution across business domains.

  • Define reference architectures and usage patterns for Foundry and AIP capabilities (Ontology, Pipeline Builder, Functions, Workshop, AIP Logic, Agent Studio) and set guardrails for when and how each is used.
  • Establish how the Ontology integrates with core systems of record (policy, billing, claims), the enterprise data platform, and downstream applications.
  • Define the architecture for AI, GenAI, and Agentic workflows grounded in the Ontology, including LLM/RAG patterns, agent boundaries, human-in-the-loop controls, and Responsible AI requirements.

Data Architecture

  • Define the data architecture target state and roadmap, including conceptual and logical data models, domain boundaries, data product standards, and data mesh/lakehouse operating patterns.
  • Set standards for data integration, API, and event-driven patterns across structured and unstructured data, spanning Snowflake, Kafka/MSK, and the Palantir platform.
  • Establish data governance, lineage, metadata, quality, privacy, and security requirements in partnership with Data Governance, Security, and Compliance.
  • Rationalize the data and analytics platform portfolio and define platform interoperability (Snowflake, Palantir, AWS data services).

Cloud & Enterprise Integration

  • Provide architecture direction for AWS-based data and AI capabilities (S3, Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, Step Functions, MSK, Bedrock, SageMaker), focusing on patterns, security, resiliency, observability, and cost.
  • Define integration standards between the data platform, ontology layer, and enterprise applications.

Architecture Leadership

  • Lead the Architecture Review process for data and AI initiatives; approve solution designs and ensure alignment to enterprise standards and roadmaps.
  • Develop business cases, capability maps, and executive-level architecture narratives that connect data and AI investments to business outcomes.
  • Guide infrastructure and engineering leads; establish and maintain reusable patterns, principles, and architecture decision records.
  • Collaborate with business and product leadership to translate strategy into a prioritized architecture roadmap., * Experience leading Palantir platform adoption across multiple business domains strongly preferred.
  • P&C insurance experience (Guidewire or comparable core platforms) strongly preferred.
  • Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., supporting employee resource groups, mentoring employees, volunteering, joining cross-functional projects)
  • Champions our cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.)
  • Demonstrates a company ownership mindset, thinking beyond boundaries of their own area
  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings
  • Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc

Please note we are hiring for this role remote anywhere in the United States with the following exceptions: Hawaii and Alaska., Sustainability: As climate change leads to more frequent and severe weather events, we are taking bold action to build more resilient communities and reduce our environmental impact. Submit your application to be considered. We communicate via email, so check your inbox and/or your spam folder to ensure you don’t miss important updates from us., If you apply and are selected to continue in the recruiting process, we will schedule a preliminary call with you to discuss the role and will disclose during that call the available salary/hourly rate range based on your location. Factors used to determine the actual salary offered may include location, experience, or education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years in Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, or related roles, with 5+ years in an enterprise or domain architect capacity.
  • 4+ years designing enterprise Data, Cloud, or AI architectures at scale.
  • 3+ years of experience with Palantir Foundry and AIP, including Ontology design and governance.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise data modeling (conceptual, logical, semantic), ontology/knowledge graph concepts, data mesh and data product thinking, and domain-driven design.
  • Strong architecture expertise with AWS, cloud-native patterns, event-driven and API-based integration, high availability, observability, and infrastructure as code.
  • Architecture-level experience with Snowflake, Kafka/MSK, Spark, Bedrock, and SageMaker; sufficient Python and SQL fluency to evaluate designs and review implementations.
  • Experience architecting AI/ML, GenAI, RAG, and Agentic AI solutions, including governance and Responsible AI controls.
  • Working knowledge of data governance frameworks, regulatory and privacy requirements, and security architecture.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF, ArchiMate, or comparable enterprise architecture frameworks and tooling.
  • Proven ability to influence senior technology and business leaders and to communicate architecture decisions to executive audiences.
  • Experience leading architecture governance forums and driving alignment across domains and delivery teams.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to balance strategic direction with pragmatic delivery constraints.
  • Ability to mentor solution architects and establish architecture standards and practices.
  • Strong collaboration across Architecture, Engineering, Product, Security, Data Governance, Operations, and business teams.
