BEARCloud is recruiting an experienced Senior Software Engineer who enjoys building scalable data solutions, solving complex technical challenges, and creating systems that make a real difference to the business.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just move data from one place to another but understands how to design reliable, efficient, and maintainable systems that support analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning initiatives.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data processing systems and workflows.
• Build reliable ETL/ELT pipelines that support reporting, analytics, and machine learning applications.
• Take ownership of technical solutions throughout the development lifecycle, from initial architecture through deployment and ongoing improvements.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable code using Python and SQL.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, and engineering practices that improve system reliability and performance.
• Work with APIs, event-driven architectures, streaming technologies, and concurrent processing techniques.
• Partner with engineering, analytics, product, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Identify opportunities to simplify existing processes, improve data accessibility, and reduce operational overhead.
• Help establish reusable frameworks, documentation, and technical standards across the data engineering environment.
• Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions while supporting the growth of other engineers.

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Advanced Python development skills and strong proficiency in SQL.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, testing methodologies, and clean coding principles.
• Demonstrated experience developing production-grade data pipelines and supporting them in live environments.

Data Architecture & Integration

• Experience selecting appropriate tools and technologies to solve complex data challenges.
• Strong understanding of data integration, transformation, orchestration, and processing.
• Familiarity with distributed or asynchronous processing, including APIs, streaming data, multithreading, or similar technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot performance issues and build effective monitoring and alerting capabilities.

Collaboration & Business Understanding

• Ability to independently evaluate technical requirements and recommend practical solutions.
• Comfortable working with both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement, and technical ownership.
• Experience balancing engineering priorities with business objectives.
