Job description

You’ll test and validate firmware and drivers across common firmware interfaces, chipsets, communication protocols and SoC IPs. You’ll also build features that support hardware testing and device diagnosis, and contribute to new-technology exploration and proof-of-concept work. It’s a highly cross-functional role, working daily with EE, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware Test, QA, Factory, Manufacturing and Operations teams.

What you’ll do

  • Validate and debug firmware and drivers on embedded products
  • Build and maintain Python test automation for system-level validation
  • Test hardware interfaces such as USB, UART, SPI, I2C, I2S and PCIe
  • Implement tools and features that support hardware testing and device diagnosis
  • Read hardware specs and schematics to design test coverage
  • Support proof-of-concept development for new technologies

Requirements

  • 2-8+ years developing and testing embedded systems or devices, including system validation of firmware and software
  • Strong Python test automation experience
  • Hands-on experience with ARM platforms and the ARM architecture and instruction set
  • Experience with at least one hardware protocol: USB, UART, SPI, I2C, I2S or PCIe
  • Debugging with gdb, lldb or similar tools, and the ability to read hardware specs and schematics
  • Driver or application development on Linux, Unix or macOS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • C++, Objective-C or Swift
  • BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Tools and tech: Python, ARM, gdb/lldb, USB, UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, PCIe, Linux, Unix, macOS, C++, Objective-C, Swift
