Job description

This role serves as the Software Quality Engineer Staff and Test Engineering Hardware Subject Matter Expert within the Software Quality Engineering team, with a focus on test equipment and hardware-in-the-loop systems. You will help develop, implement, and maintain common software and systems quality processes aligned with AS9100, CMMI, and customer requirements. The position is ideal for a collaborative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment and wants to shape critical quality initiatives while working with cutting-edge technology and a supportive, flexible team. Responsibilities

  • Drive software quality across test equipment and hardware-in-the-loop systems throughout the full lifecycle, from requirements definition through certification.
  • Support test equipment throughout the life cycle of test stations, including requirements review, design input, integration, verification, validation, and certification activities.
  • Provide hands-on support for test set hardware, including reading and interpreting drawings and schematics, performing hardware inspections, and conducting cable inspections.
  • Execute calibration and metrology reviews and approvals for test equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Perform data integrity checks and ensure proper creation, maintenance, and control of logbooks and related records for test equipment.
  • Conduct safety checks on test equipment and hardware to verify compliance with applicable safety standards and internal procedures.
  • Review test documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Support program non-conformance burndown by helping investigate issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions related to test equipment and software quality.
  • Witness verification and validation activities for test equipment, including hardware-in-the-loop systems, to confirm that test solutions meet system and software requirements.
  • Define, plan, and execute audit strategies to ensure compliance with software and system processes, including alignment with AS9100, CMMI, and other industry quality models.
  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot LabVIEW, TestStand, and C/C++ test code to verify that software implementations satisfy system requirements and to support defect resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including test engineering, software engineering, and suppliers, to ensure test systems and processes meet quality and customer expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, data-driven reports, metrics, and presentations using Microsoft Office tools to communicate quality status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Engage with software suppliers and, when applicable, Government/DoD customers to support quality-related discussions, reviews, and issue resolution for test equipment and systems., You will work in a dynamic, mission-focused engineering environment that emphasizes collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. The role involves close interaction with test engineering, software engineering, and quality teams, as well as suppliers and external stakeholders. You will spend time both in office settings performing analysis, documentation, and reviews, and in laboratory or test facility environments working directly with test equipment, hardware-in-the-loop systems, and related instrumentation. The position may require travel to company sites, supplier locations, and test facilities to support audits, inspections, and verification and validation activities. The organization supports worklife balance and overall well-being, offering flexible scheduling options where business needs allow, and provides access to modern tools and technologies, including National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand platforms, Microsoft Office applications, and specialized test and measurement equipment.
