Job description

We are seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Automation Engineer to help modernize and standardize cloud infrastructure across a large enterprise environment. This individual will be responsible for transforming manually managed Azure resources into reliable, scalable, and repeatable infrastructure through code-driven automation.\n \n \nThe ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions within complex Azure environments. They will bring a practical engineering mindset, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to implement solutions that improve consistency, governance, and operational efficiency.\n \n \nThis is a highly technical, hands-on position requiring direct ownership of code development, deployment automation, infrastructure modernization, and production troubleshooting. The successful candidate must be comfortable making technical decisions, resolving complex infrastructure challenges, and communicating engineering best practices to technical stakeholders.\n \n, * Experience working with Azure DevOps for infrastructure delivery and automation. \n

  • Participation in enterprise-scale Azure landing zone design and implementation. \n

  • Advanced Terraform module development, versioning, and lifecycle management experience. \n

  • Experience automating Azure governance controls and implementing Azure Policy. \n

  • Background automating network infrastructure, firewalls, DNS, services, and security configurations. \n

  • Familiarity with Ansible or other configuration management and automation frameworks. \n

  • Experience establishing consistent infrastructure engineering standards across multiple teams or business units. \n

  • Experience transitioning organizations from manual, portal-based provisioning to automated, code-first infrastructure management. \n

  • Exposure to container infrastructure, virtual machines, and hybrid cloud environments. \n

  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, such as GitHub Copilot, with appropriate code review and validation practices. \n

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience engineering and managing Azure infrastructure in enterprise-scale environments. \n

  • Strong practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform. \n

  • Working knowledge of Azure Bicep or similar infrastructure definition and provisioning technologies. \n

  • Experience building reusable infrastructure modules, templates, variable structures, and standardized deployment configurations. \n

  • Proficiency with Git-based source control, including repository management, branching, pull requests, and code review processes. \n

  • Experience developing and supporting infrastructure automation pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD platforms. \n

  • Strong understanding of Azure architecture, including subscriptions, management groups, virtual networking, , access controls, and governance policies. \n

  • Experience implementing Azure landing zones or establishing standardized cloud infrastructure foundations. \n

  • Demonstrated ability to modernize existing cloud environments where infrastructure has been provisioned through manual or inconsistent processes. \n

  • Experience identifying configuration drift and transitioning existing resources into maintainable, code-managed infrastructure. \n

  • Understanding of infrastructure testing, deployment validation, change approvals, risk mitigation, and recovery planning. \n

  • Broad technical knowledge across core Azure infrastructure services, with the ability to work across multiple infrastructure domains rather than focusing exclusively on one service. \n

Benefits & conditions

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated Azure infrastructure using modern Infrastructure as Code practices. \n

  • Develop and manage reusable Terraform modules and/or Bicep templates to support consistent provisioning of Azure resources. \n

  • Assess existing cloud environments and transition manually configured infrastructure into version-controlled, code-managed solutions. \n

  • Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of standardized Azure landing zones and foundational cloud architecture. \n

  • Establish and maintain Git-based development practices, including branching strategies, pull requests, peer reviews, and controlled change management. \n

  • Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure validation, testing, planning, and deployment. \n

  • Implement infrastructure changes using structured release processes that minimize operational risk and service disruption. \n

  • Identify and resolve infrastructure configuration drift, undocumented resources, inconsistent deployments, and legacy technical debt. \n

  • Evaluate existing infrastructure and determine appropriate strategies for resource adoption, code refactoring, migration, or replacement. \n

  • Integrate Azure security, and access management, networking, governance, and policy requirements into automated deployment workflows. \n

  • Investigate deployment failures, configuration inconsistencies, and unexpected infrastructure changes, implementing sustainable resolutions. \n

  • Establish repeatable procedures for infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, version management, and ongoing operational support. \n

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools when appropriate while independently reviewing generated code for accuracy, security, and production readiness. \n

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to communicate design decisions, document implementation standards, and support adoption of infrastructure automation practices. \n
