Lead Application Support Engineer-Java/AWS

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Support & Maintenance Engineer to support and enhance a business-critical enterprise application ecosystem. The successful candidate will provide Level 2 3 production support, application maintenance, incident resolution, root cause analysis, release management, and continuous improvement across a complex environment consisting of modern cloud native applications, enterprise middleware, databases, integrations, and containerized workloads. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and experience operating within an ITIL based Application Managed Services (AMS) environment supporting mission critical business operations. The candidate will also leverage AI enabled operational tools and automation platforms to improve service quality, reduce incident resolution times, and optimize platform performance. This role needs to be performed Onsite from Our client’s office in Pittsburgh, PA only., AWS Certified Developer Associate AWS Solutions Architect Associate Oracle Certified Java Professional Oracle WebLogic Certification Oracle BPM/SOA Certification ITIL Foundation v4 Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Jenkins Certified Engineer Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (preferred) AI / Generative AI Certifications (Copilot, AWS AI, Azure AI)

Future duties and responsibilities Production Support & Incident Management . Provide L 2 3 support for business-critical production applications. . Collaborate with L 2 3 support, infrastructure teams, architects, and business stakeholders during major incidents. . Investigate and resolve complex application, integration, database, and middleware issues. . Lead troubleshooting for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents. . Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions. . Support 24x7 on call rotation for critical production incidents.

Application Maintenance & Enhancements

. Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications and APIs. . Implement approved change requests and platform improvements. . Analyze system requirements and provide technical solution recommendations. . Refactor legacy applications and support modernization initiatives. . Participate in code reviews and enforce development standards. . Support technical debt remediation activities.

Release & Deployment Management

. Support application deployments across development, test, staging, and production environments. . Coordinate release validation, rollback planning, and deployment readiness activities. . Participate in change management and CAB reviews. . Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance.

Cloud & Platform Operations

. Support applications hosted on AWS cloud environments. . Troubleshoot containerized applications running on Docker and Kubernetes/EKS. . Monitor application performance, availability, and reliability. . Assist with cloud infrastructure automation and operational improvements. . Participate in capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives.

AI & Automation Enablement

. Utilize AI assisted operational support tools to improve incident detection and resolution. . Leverage Microsoft Copilot and AI driven analytics platforms to accelerate problem investigation. . Identify opportunities for automation and self healing capabilities.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

. Maintain runbooks, technical documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures. . Support cross training activities and knowledge transfer sessions. . Contribute to service improvement recommendations. . Ensure operational knowledge is documented and retained across the support organization.

8+ years supporting enterprise applications in production environments. . 5+ years of Java Full Stack Developer . Experience working with Git and Maven . Strong Hand on Experience on Angular and Angular JS . Experience working with Restful web services . Experience supporting large scale integrated applications. . Experience with AWS cloud environments and containerized platforms. . Experience leading production incident resolution efforts. . Experience with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps delivery models. . Experience in telecommunications, utilities, infrastructure, or similarly complex enterprise environments preferred. . Previous Application Managed Services (AMS) experience strongly preferred. . Hands on experience performing production root cause analysis and defect management. . Experience gathering and analyzing business and functional requirements. . Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and SDLC practices. . Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field

To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $91,800.00 $160,700.00.
