Job description

We are seeking a Java/Python Backend Developer to join an engineering team responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting mission-critical enterprise applications and data services.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have robust hands-on experience in Java, Python, AWS cloud technologies, DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, microservices, and RESTful web services. This role involves building scalable backend applications, integrating data from multiple enterprise sources, and supporting high-volume, business-critical services. The engineer will work with data platforms including Amazon Redshift, DB2, and relational and NoSQL data stores to enable reliable data access, transformation, and delivery. This is primarily a backend engineering position with a robust data integration focus. Frontend development experience is beneficial but not required. The successful candidate should demonstrate robust technical problem-solving skills, ownership, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. Required Technical Skills

  • 6-7 years of IT experience working as a developer.
  • Robust professional experience developing backend applications using Java and Python.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, exception handling, and software design principles.
  • Experience developing production-grade REST APIs and web services.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices.
  • Understanding of service-to-service communication, API integration, and distributed application concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing backend application performance.
  • Practical experience developing and supporting applications on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development.
  • Robust working knowledge of Amazon DynamoDB, including data modeling, querying, and application integration.
  • Experience developing applications that consume, transform, and process enterprise data.
  • Robust SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
  • Experience integrating backend applications with relational and NoSQL data stores.
  • Understanding of data processing, database performance, and batch workflows.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative development.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, integration testing, and debugging.
  • Understanding of application security, logging, monitoring, and production support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Java Spring Boot and Spring-based microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM DB2 databases.
  • Experience consuming data from Amazon Redshift.
  • Exposure to Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS).
  • Experience developing scheduled batch jobs and backend processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as S3, API Gateway, EventBridge, Step Functions, and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of containerization and deployment technologies such as Docker and ECS.
  • Experience with frontend technologies such as Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical enterprise applications.
  • Previous experience in financial services or large enterprise technology environments.
