Software Engineer

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs for business-critical systems and applications
• Contribute to frontend development using Vue.js and develop applications and services using Node.js
• Deliver software solutions across the full development lifecycle, from initial design through deployment and ongoing support
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming and knowledge-sharing activities
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers and Delivery teams to deliver technical solutions
• Support CI/CD pipelines, automation and DevOps practices to improve software delivery
• Troubleshoot technical issues, optimise application performance and contribute to continuous improvement

We are partnering with a leading UK organisation investing significantly in its digital platforms, cloud technologies and software engineering capabilities. This predominantly backend-focused Software Engineer role is part of a growing engineering team, with opportunities to contribute across the wider technology stack in a collaborative Agile environment. The role is remote, with occasional travel to Leeds, and offers a salary of £43,000-£50,000.

• Proven commercial experience in software engineering, developing and delivering production-grade applications
• Strong backend development experience using Java and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and scalable backend services
• Experience using Node.js to develop and maintain applications or services
• Exposure to frontend technologies, ideally Vue.js
• Good understanding of software design principles, coding standards and engineering best practices
• Experience writing automated tests and maintaining high standards of code quality
• Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally AWS
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git and DevOps practices
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams
