Job description

Established by SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner, the Hasso Plattner Foundation builds and runs its own long-term philanthropic initiatives. It founds and funds institutions, shaping them over decades, such as the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering, Museum Barberini, and Sabine Plattner African Charities. An in-house Investment Office manages the endowment that makes it all possible. For the administration and further development of HPF Group IT, we are looking for an IT Infrastructure & AI Operations Manager who combines solid hands-on experience in cloud and client administration with genuine curiosity for AI-powered ways of working. This role is based in Potsdam, Germany. We work predominantly in-office, by design. It’s how we keep decisions fast and collaboration real. The Role The IT Infrastructure & AI Operations Manager is not a classic “keep-the-lights-on” admin role. Alongside running and securing our hybrid infrastructure, you will help roll out and operate enterprise AI tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot, LLM-based assistants), automate recurring IT processes, and shape how AI is adopted responsibly across the Foundation and its cultural and scientific entities. You will be based in Potsdam, with onsite commitments at our subsidiaries in Berlin and Potsdam. Your Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & operations - Oversee all aspects of HPF group entities’ IT infrastructure (on-premise & cloud), primarily on Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Security - Manage network and data security, and contribute to our information security and AI governance framework (e.g., access management, data protection, secure AI tool configuration).

  • AI enablement - Deploy, administer, and continuously improve enterprise AI tools and assistants; support colleagues in using them effectively, safely, and in line with our internal AI guidelines.

  • Automation - Identify and automate recurring IT and business processes using scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and low-code/workflow platforms, increasingly enhanced with AI capabilities.

  • User support & enablement - Conduct local and remote first & second level client support, and develop local IT, information security, and AI literacy, including user trainings.

  • Vendor & project management - Steer external IT providers (including procurement) and assist in IT projects such as on-premise-to-cloud transformations and the rollout of business process cloud software.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Successfully completed vocational training in IT (e.g., “Fachinformatik”) or a university degree (e.g., Bachelor of Science) with an IT focus.

  • 3+ years’ experience in IT system administration, ideally including M365 & Azure cloud administration.

  • On-premise network administration (e.g., firewalls, switches, access points).

  • Good understanding of common client operating systems (Mac & Windows).

  • Interest in and ideally first practical experience with AI tools in a business context (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT/Claude, AI-assisted scripting or automation) - above all, the curiosity to build this expertise with us.

  • Basic scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) or the motivation to develop them, increasingly supported by AI coding assistants.

  • Fluency in English and German.

You Are…

  • A proactive team player, contributing to an inspiring working atmosphere and eager to explore and learn new things daily - including emerging AI technologies.

  • An analytical head and self-starter with a getting-things-done attitude.

  • Distinctively service-oriented with very good communication skills.

  • A person with a high level of integrity and a strong sense of discretion.

Benefits & conditions

  • Support to pursue professional training and certifications - including in cloud and AI technologies.
  • A lean team with short reporting lines and fast decisions: your work is visible to leadership from day one
  • The entrepreneurial pace and ownership of a high-ambition organization, backed by the stability of a well-funded endowment
  • AI tools in active use (n8n, Asana AI Studio); we’re early in the journey, building seriously; we see AI as a means to an end, not a headline
  • Competitive compensation, state-of-the-art IT, public transport ticket, free lunch, excellent coffee, outdoor sports, and a beautiful lakeside office in Potsdam
