Java Developer

Join a high-performing engineering team delivering complex, business-critical applications for clients across multiple sectors. This is a fully remote contract role where you’ll be trusted to own key services end-to-end, working with modern Java, Spring, and cloud technologies. You’ll contribute directly to scalable, resilient solutions used by thousands of users., You will design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Core Java and Spring Framework, ensuring high performance and reliability. Working closely with architects and other developers, you’ll implement cloud-native solutions on leading platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Your work will have a direct impact on delivery timelines, system stability, and overall product quality., * Develop, enhance, and maintain backend services using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Spring MVC.

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
• Apply multithreading and concurrency techniques to optimise performance and throughput.
• Integrate applications with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for storage, messaging, and deployment.
• Write clean, testable code and implement unit/integration tests to ensure reliability and regression coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing fixes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, DevOps, Product) to deliver features from concept to deployment.

• Strong commercial experience with Core Java, including OOP, Collections, and Multithreading.
• Hands-on experience building applications with Spring Boot and Spring MVC.
• Practical experience deploying and running applications on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proven background developing RESTful APIs and backend services in a commercial environment.
• Solid understanding of application performance optimisation, profiling, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working in an Agile environment with source control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, managing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with microservices architectures and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and asynchronous processing.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases and performance tuning.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant professional certifications in Java or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, Oracle Java Certification) preferred.
