Job description
The Solutions Architect is a highly proficient, hands-on solution architect for custom solutions. This role owns end-to-end microservice and API architecture for assigned solutions, defines Domain-Driven Design boundaries and event-driven patterns on Azure Service Bus, and sets engineering standards across React frontend and .NET/Python backend teams. The role operates with growing autonomy across the custom solutions estate and represents designs in architecture reviews. Key Responsibilities Translate business and product requirements into end-to-end solution designs for RSM custom solutions spanning multiple frontend and backend services. Design microservice and API architectures for custom-built solutions; define service boundaries using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles. Architect event-driven integration patterns using Azure Service Bus; define message schemas, topic/subscription models, and error-handling strategies. Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices across frontend (React) and backend (.NET / Python) teams. Ensure non-functional requirements (security, scalability, resiliency, observability) are embedded into all solution designs. Lead architecture and design reviews for new features, technical initiatives, and third-party integrations within assigned solutions. Produce and maintain architecture decision records (ADRs), high-level design (HLD) documents, and API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger). Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineering leads to shape technical roadmaps. Provide technical mentorship to senior engineers and conduct design and code reviews.
Requirements
8-15 years of overall software engineering and architecture experience, with significant experience designing enterprise applications and distributed systems. Strong solution architecture experience with .NET and Microsoft Azure. Advanced experience designing microservices, APIs, highly available systems, and distributed architectures. Experience with event-driven architecture and technologies such as Azure Service Bus. Strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS, event-driven patterns, and modern application architecture. Experience with RESTful APIs, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices. Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical architecture and provide developers with clear implementation guidance. Ability to remain technically credible and hands-on enough to develop or support POCs. Strong communication skills with the ability to present architecture and technical decisions to senior stakeholders. Previous experience within a Big Four firm or major technology company. Experience with React and/or Python in modern enterprise application environments. Professional services or B2B SaaS experience. Experience designing solutions that span multiple business units or enterprise platforms. Experience with authentication and authorization patterns such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
