Technical Architect | SC Cleared - Java, WebLogic, WebSphere - Cloud migration

Are you an experienced Java Technical Architect with a proven track record delivering large-scale application modernization and cloud transformation programmes? We are seeking an SC Cleared Technical Architect to lead Java enterprise-wide migration initiatives, helping organisations transform Legacy Java landscapes into modern, cloud-native solutions on Azure.

Key Responsibilities

Define and own end-to-end Java modernization and cloud migration strategies

Lead migration of Java applications from Legacy platforms including WebLogic, WebSphere, GlassFish, JBoss, and Tomcat

Architect and deliver modernization solutions leveraging Azure App Service, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps, and Azure Red Hat OpenShift

Establish containerization and orchestration strategies using Docker and Kubernetes

Lead CI/CD transformation initiatives using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions

Provide architectural governance, design reviews, and migration best practices

Collaborate closely with engineering, DevOps, and stakeholder teams to ensure successful programme delivery

Deep expertise in Java 8, 11, and 17 Architecture

Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Java EE, and Jakarta EE

Experience migrating enterprise applications across Legacy Java platforms

Extensive Azure cloud architecture experience, including:

• Azure App Service
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Azure Container Apps (ACA)
• Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO)
• Azure SQL
• Azure Storage
• Azure Key Vault

Strong understanding of:

• Docker & Kubernetes
• REST APIs
• OAuth2 & JWT
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Performance tuning & security hardening
• Application modernization and cloud migration
• Front End exposure to JavaScript and Angular
