Cloud Engineer

• Configure, secure, and optimise our Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Administer and harden our Azure infrastructure with a security-first approach.
• Own identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, and MFA policy design and enforcement.
• Implement and manage our Microsoft security tooling, including Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Purview, data loss prevention, and Intune endpoint management.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex M365, Azure, and identity incidents, leading root cause investigations and delivering permanent fixes.
• Build automation for provisioning, configuration, and operations using PowerShell, Graph API, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Own our governance, tenant standards, and configuration baselines, and champion FinOps for cost visibility and efficiency.
• Lead M365 and Azure migrations, upgrades, and deployments, working with our Network and Cyber Security Engineers to maintain our security controls.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Cloud Engineers and shape our cloud roadmap.

• Were looking for demonstrable experience configuring and securing Microsoft 365 and Azure in production, rather than first-line support exposure.
• We need real depth in Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, and identity and access management.
• Were looking for hands-on experience with Microsoft security tooling such as Defender, Sentinel, Purview, or Intune.
• We need strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills, ideally including Graph API.
• Were looking for a track record of cloud governance, tenant hardening, and operational best practice.
• We need sound judgement under pressure and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Microsoft certifications such as SC-200, SC-300, SC-100, AZ-500, AZ-104, MS-102, or MS-500 are desirable.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or Terraform, FinOps and cloud financial management, or ITIL service management is desirable.

Were hiring a Microsoft 365 & Cloud Engineer for a full-time, permanent, hands-on, cloud-first engineering role based in Lincoln with hybrid working. The salary is £40,000-£48,000, depending on experience. This role focuses on building, securing, and continually improving our Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms, setting standards for how they are run, and providing senior technical leadership. It is suited to someone whose strengths are in cloud configuration, security, automation, and platform improvement rather than service-desk support.
