Job description

Are you a Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, building scalable platforms and making systems work smarter? This is an opportunity to move beyond project-by-project solutions and help build a more structured, automated and scalable data platform. What you’ll be doing

Working with SQL, Python and modern lakehouse/warehouse architecture.

Optimising data structures for Power BI reporting and analytics.

Improving data quality, governance and consistency across the business.

Reducing reliance on manual spreadsheets through smarter, automated solutions.

Collaborating with BI and software development teams to evolve the wider data infrastructure.

Requirements

Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience is essential.

Strong SQL and data modelling skills.

Experience building data pipelines and integrating APIs, databases and other sources.

Python skills for data processing and automation.

Understanding of Power BI integration and modern data architecture.

A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to take ownership of solutions.

Energy or utilities experience would be beneficial, but it’s not essential.

Benefits & conditions

£45,000-£56,000 salary, depending on experience.

Hybrid working, with two days per week in the Preston office.

25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off.

Flexible working, private medical insurance, gym contribution and an EV scheme.

The chance to make a tangible impact in a business focused on energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
