Lead Data Engineer

As part of significant investment in Data, Analytics and AI, they’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to take ownership of their cloud-based data platform and help shape the future direction of the company’s analytics, machine learning and AI capabilities.

This is a unique opportunity to join at a pivotal stage of growth. Initially, you’ll operate as a highly influential senior individual contributor with end-to-end ownership of the data function. As the business continues to scale, you’ll have the opportunity to build and lead a dedicated Data Engineering team.

Technology Environment

You’ll work across a modern cloud-based data ecosystem, including:

• AWS
• Python
• SQL
• Data Warehousing
• Data Lakes
• ETL/ELT Pipelines
• APIs & Data Services, As Lead Data Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:
• Designing, building and maintaining scalable cloud-based data platforms.
• Developing robust ETL/ELT pipelines and data services.
• Creating trusted analytical datasets to support reporting, business intelligence and advanced analytics.
• Building APIs and data products used by enterprise clients.
• Supporting Machine Learning and AI initiatives through high-quality data engineering and architecture.
• Establishing data governance, quality, lineage and observability standards across the organisation.
• Collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
• Influencing the long-term data architecture, tooling and operating model of the business.

• Strong experience designing, building and operating production-grade data platforms.
• Advanced SQL and data modelling expertise.
• Hands-on AWS experience within modern cloud environments.
• Experience developing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A track record of influencing technical direction and driving best practice.

Desirable Experience

Any of the following would be advantageous:

• Experience supporting Machine Learning or AI workloads.
• Exposure to MLOps, Agentic AI or AI-powered products.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar BI tools.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, lineage and observability frameworks.
• Experience working within fast-growth technology businesses or SaaS environments.
