Job description

NET Full Stack Engineer - SQL & Azure (Core Systems)

U.S. Bank

Day to Day Job Duties: (what this person will do on a daily/weekly basis)

Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise-grade applications supporting U.S. Bank core systems using C#, .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET Core, and modern full-stack development practices.

Build responsive web applications and reusable user-interface components using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as React or Angular, integrated with secure backend services.

Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and service integrations to connect core banking platforms, internal systems, third-party services, and downstream applications.

Develop, optimize, and support complex SQL Server solutions including stored procedures, queries, data access layers, performance tuning, and transaction-heavy workloads.

Build and deploy cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure using services such as App Service, Azure Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Storage, Monitor, and Application Insights.

Participate in application modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy .NET applications to modern .NET and Azure-based architectures while maintaining stability of business-critical core systems.

Implement secure coding, authentication and authorization patterns, secrets management, logging, monitoring, resiliency, and error-handling standards required for regulated financial-services environments.

Partner with product owners, architects, business analysts, database teams, DevOps, security, and production-support teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Perform code reviews, unit/integration testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, production support, and performance optimization across application, API, database, and cloud layers.

Contribute to CI/CD automation using Azure DevOps or equivalent tools and support release management, environment configuration, infrastructure integration, and operational readiness.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: (what are the skills required to this job with minimum years of experience on each)

Minimum 8+ years of overall software engineering experience building and supporting enterprise applications, preferably in banking, financial services, payments, or other highly regulated environments.

Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience with C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core/.NET, ASP.NET Core, Web API, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, and enterprise design patterns.

Minimum 5+ years of full-stack development experience, including modern front-end development using React, Angular, or comparable JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks together with .NET backend services.

Minimum 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including complex SQL, stored procedures, relational data modeling, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, and transactional data processing.

Minimum 4+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience developing or hosting enterprise applications using services such as Azure App Service, Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Key Vault, Azure SQL, Storage, Monitor, and Application Insights.

Minimum 4+ years of experience designing and consuming REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integration patterns, including secure service-to-service communication and asynchronous messaging.

Minimum 3+ years of experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices using Azure DevOps, Git, automated builds, automated testing, release pipelines, and environment configuration management.

Minimum 3+ years of experience supporting business-critical production applications, including troubleshooting, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, application monitoring, and performance optimization.

Minimum 2+ years of experience working with banking core systems, financial-services transaction processing, payments, deposits, lending, customer/account platforms, or similarly complex high-volume enterprise systems.

Minimum 2+ years of experience implementing enterprise security practices including OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, role-based access control, secrets management, secure API design, encryption, and secure SDLC controls.

Travel: Minimal travel may be required based on project and business needs.

Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to Have; (But not a must)

Experience modernizing legacy .NET applications or monoliths into microservices and cloud-native Azure solutions.

Experience with Entity Framework Core, Dapper, Redis, event-driven architecture, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or similar technologies.

Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.

Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.

Working knowledge of observability and application-performance monitoring tools, including Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Splunk, or Dynatrace.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and partnering directly with architecture, risk, security, compliance, and business stakeholders.

Prior experience in U.S. banking core systems, payments, customer/account servicing, transaction processing, or modernization programs.
