Job description

We’re looking for an Ansible Automation Developer with a strong infrastructure background to design, build, and maintain automation across our server, storage, and virtualization environments. You’ll move manual operational work into tested, version-controlled, repeatable code, and you’ll work closely with systems engineers, storage and virtualization teams, and operations to make that automation reliable at scale. This role is a fit for someone who has spent time administering infrastructure and now builds the tooling that replaces the repetitive work.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, test, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections for provisioning, configuration management, patching, and compliance
  • Automate the lifecycle of Linux and Windows servers, including build, templating, hardening, and decommissioning
  • Integrate Ansible with virtualization and orchestration platforms, ITSM tools, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Migrate legacy automation and configuration management (e.g., Puppet, Chef, shell scripts, vRO workflows) to Ansible
  • Manage and improve Ansible Automation Platform (AAP/AWX): inventories, credentials, job templates, workflows, and RBAC
  • Build and enforce standards for code structure, testing (Molecule, ansible-lint), peer review, and documentation
  • Troubleshoot automation failures and infrastructure issues, and perform root cause analysis
  • Partner with infrastructure and operations teams to identify high-value automation opportunities
  • Document runbooks and mentor team members on automation best practices

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a similar role
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience writing production Ansible (roles, collections, Jinja2 templating, dynamic inventories, Vault)
  • Strong Linux administration skills, preferably RHEL, including networking, storage, system, and security hardening
  • Proficiency with Git and branching workflows; experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Scripting experience in Python and/or Bash
  • Solid understanding of core infrastructure concepts: virtualization, storage, DNS/DHCP, load balancing, and enterprise networking basics
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and document your work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Ansible Automation Platform / AWX / Tower
  • Experience automating VMware vSphere, Nutanix, or public cloud (Azure/AWS) environments
  • Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Exposure to OpenShift/Kubernetes, container platforms, or hybrid infrastructure
  • Experience integrating with storage and backup platforms (e.g., Pure Storage, NetApp, Cohesity) or IPAM/DNS tools (e.g., Infoblox)
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM integrations
  • Experience in a regulated or enterprise environment with change management processes

Benefits & conditions

  • Manual build and patching tasks are replaced by reliable, repeatable pipelines
  • Automation is tested, documented, and reusable by other teams
  • Legacy tooling is migrated with minimal disruption to operations
  • Operations teams trust and actively use the automation you deliver

Comments

  • Ansible (Software) (P4 - Expert)
