Remote Solution Architect (AWS)

A global hotel company is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to support the architecture and evolution of its Digital Ancillary and personalization ecosystem. This person will partner with Engineering, IT, Digital, Data, and Marketing teams to translate business needs into scalable technology solutions.

The role will lead solution design, application and integration architecture, data modeling, technology evaluation, and build-vs-buy-vs-reuse decisions. This is a hands-on architecture role requiring someone who can design solutions while also developing prototypes or technical components when needed.

Responsibilities Lead solution architecture for applications, services, integrations, and data solutions supporting the company’s Digital Ancillary ecosystem. Translate business requirements into scalable application, API, integration, data, and cloud architectures. Design logical and physical data models, schemas, relationships, APIs, and integration patterns. Evaluate SaaS platforms, AWS services, and build-vs-buy-vs-reuse options based on scalability, security, integration, cost, and maintainability. Design integrations using APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging, batch, and real-time patterns. Architect cloud-native solutions in AWS, leveraging services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, S3, DynamoDB, CloudFront, ECS, and Fargate. Develop proofs of concept, prototypes, APIs, integrations, and reference implementations to validate architectural approaches. Create architecture diagrams, technical designs, data models, integration specifications, and architecture decision records. Establish reusable architectural patterns and standards to improve scalability and reduce technology fragmentation. Partner with Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, and Data teams to ensure solutions meet requirements for security, performance, resilience, observability, and operational supportability. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams. Must Haves Senior-level experience in Solutions Architecture, Application Architecture, or Software Architecture within a large enterprise environment. Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture. Expertise in API and integration architecture, including event-driven and real-time integrations. Strong application and data modeling experience. Hands-on technical background with the ability to develop POCs, APIs, integrations, or application components. Experience evaluating SaaS products and build-vs-buy-vs-reuse decisions. Strong understanding of scalable, secure, loosely coupled, and resilient architecture. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams., * 5+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise applications, cloud solutions, or distributed systems, with significant experience in solution or application architecture. * Demonstrated experience translating complex business requirements into solution architectures, application designs, integration patterns, and data models. * Experience performing technical evaluations of commercial software, SaaS platforms, cloud services, and technology frameworks, including documenting recommendations and architectural trade-offs. * Experience making and communicating build-versus-buy-versus-reuse decisions and identifying opportunities to leverage shared technology capabilities. * Strong understanding of application architecture and software design principles, including modularity, domain boundaries, separation of concerns, abstraction, extensibility, and reuse. * Strong understanding of data architecture and data modeling, including relational, document, key-value, search, and event-oriented data patterns. * Experience designing APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, service-oriented architectures, and distributed systems. * Strong understanding of integration approaches including REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, event streaming, queues, publish/subscribe, and batch integration patterns. * Strong understanding of AWS cloud architecture and services, including S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, OpenSearch, ECS, and Fargate. * Experience developing applications and backend APIs using languages such as Java, Go, TypeScript, or JavaScript. * Experience with modern web application technologies including React, Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. * Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Serverless Framework. * Experience with software development and deployment practices including Git, GitLab, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines. * AWS certification preferred, particularly AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional. * Additional cloud, architecture, data, or security certifications are beneficial.
