Job description

We are looking for a Lead Technical Product Manager to lead the delivery of APIs, integrations, and embedded applications that bring UpToDate intelligence into the broader healthcare ecosystem. This includes APIs used by third-party products and applications embedded in existing clinical tools such as electronic health record systems.

Working within the API operating model, you will own execution and outcomes for a defined product area, partner with platform and engineering teams, and serve as the portfolio’s go-to product expert for integrations. Success means delivering capabilities that are adopted by partners, reliable in production, easy to integrate, and supportive of business growth.

Working within the API operating model and the strategic direction established by product leadership, you will lead day-to-day execution for a defined product area, partner closely with platform and engineering teams, and serve as a key integration product resource across the portfolio. Success means helping deliver capabilities that are adopted by partners, reliable in production, easy to integrate, and supportive of business growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own execution and outcomes for defined API, integration, embedded application, and agentic AI capabilities.

  • Lead the delivery of APIs that enable third-party products and partners to integrate UpToDate intelligence.

  • Lead the delivery of applications that embed UpToDate Expert AI into existing clinical tools, including electronic health record systems.

  • Translate partner, product, and clinical workflow needs into clear product and platform requirements.

  • Recommend and manage roadmap sequencing, dependencies, and tradeoffs for the assigned product area.

  • Serve as the portfolio’s integration product expert, advising other product teams on integration approaches and shared platform capabilities.

  • Apply and improve standards for API governance, lifecycle management, versioning, reliability, and developer experience.

  • Define requirements for AI quality, safety, evaluation, monitoring, and operational readiness.

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Data, Security, Privacy, Legal, and other enterprise stakeholders.

  • Communicate priorities, decisions, dependencies, and risks clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

  • Identify recurring partner needs and turn them into reusable capabilities, reference patterns, templates, and self-service tools, reducing one-off engineering.

  • Own the discovery, technical readiness, sandbox onboarding, testing, launch, production monitoring, upgrades, and deprecation.

Requirements

  • 6+ years delivering complex software products from problem definition through launch and iteration.

  • Experience owning execution and outcomes for a platform, API, integration, or other technical product area.

  • Strong technical fluency in APIs, distributed systems, authentication and authorization, reliability, SLAs and SLOs, and cloud architecture.

  • Experience building developer-facing integration capabilities, including APIs, SDKs, documentation, versioning strategies, or sandbox environments.

Experience using Jira, Confluence, and GitHub to manage product backlogs, document requirements and decisions, and collaborate effectively with different internal teams.

  • Experience delivering products that integrate into enterprise or clinical workflows.

  • Experience shipping production AI-enabled capabilities, including approaches to evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and operational readiness.

  • Strong product judgment in regulated or high-trust environments.

  • Ability to lead through influence across technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Technical background in software engineering, architecture, SRE, or B2B platform development.

  • Experience in healthcare, electronic health record integrations, interoperability standard such as SMART on FHIR, or another regulated domain.

Experience with healthcare interoperability and electronic health record integrations, including technologies such as SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, or OpenID Connect

  • Familiarity with AI observability, evaluation pipelines, or AI incident response.
