Job description

Randstad Digital is a seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst/Architect for a exciting opportunity in Akron, OH. This role requires a practical, delivery-oriented mindset and strong business acumen. Rather than an ivory-tower or rigid theoretical architect, we are looking for a senior generalist who thrives in a collaborative corporate environment, understands business context, avoids “analysis paralysis,” and can balance robust backend architecture with direct business delivery

The day-to-day work is split roughly 75% backend architecture/governance and 25% reporting/Power BI development (with some initial hands-on reporting support during ramp-up)., Data Governance & Asset Inventory:

o Conduct an inventory of existing data assets, schemas, and models across the client landscape to identify overlaps and consolidate redundant data structures.

o Resolve conflicting refresh schedules and data discrepancies to ensure single-source-of-truth reporting.

o Establish and implement Power BI modeling standards, semantic layer best practices, and dataset governance across multiple delivery tracks.

  • Backend Data Architecture & Integration (75%):

o Design, optimize, and maintain scalable data models, relationships, and queries connecting backend systems to analytical layers

o Interface directly with core enterprise data sources and platform systems, including Oracle APEX, Oracle Unifier, Oracle OPPM, and Hexagon EcoSys

o Ensure high-performance data ingestion, query tuning, and pipeline reliability

  • Reporting & Delivery Support (25%):

o Provide initial front-end reporting support and dashboard delivery in Power BI while adjacent delivery roles are onboarded.

o Partner closely with client stakeholders and cross-functional teams to translate utility and business requirements into actionable data models

o Bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and business operations without over-engineering solutions

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 5 to 7 years of relevant experience across backend data architecture, dimensional modeling, and business intelligence development.

Demonstrated expertise in relational data modeling, semantic layers, and backend query optimization (strong SQL / Oracle environments)

Deep technical proficiency in Power BI (data modeling, DAX, query optimization, workspace architecture, refresh scheduling, and tenant governance)

Experience connecting to and harmonizing data from enterprise platforms (e.g., Oracle databases, Oracle APEX, or project portfolio management systems)

Business Acumen & Soft Skills:

Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to understand how operational data maps to organizational outcomes

Collaborative corporate mindset: comfortable navigating client constraints, taking constructive feedback, and collaborating within structured teams.

Action-oriented delivery: a track record of producing clear, actionable models and documentation rather than exhaustive theoretical reports

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Power Apps is a big plus

Prior experience within the utilities, energy, or transmission & distribution sectors

Exposure to adjacent client systems such as Oracle Unifier, Oracle OPPM, or Hexagon EcoSys

Experience establishing corporate data governance programs or reconciling enterprise-wide reporting inventories.
