Job description

This role focuses on managing and enhancing automated test systems for embedded firmware across a range of products. The Firmware Test Engineer designs, implements, and maintains firmware tests, analyzes test results and failures, and collaborates closely with multiple engineering teams to support a major security-focused firmware and software conversion program. The position requires a strong embedded background, the ability to work semi-autonomously, and the technical skills to program automated tests from day one., * Manage and maintain automated test systems for embedded firmware.

  • Triaging nightly test failures, identifying root causes, and driving resolution.
  • Adapt to ongoing changes made in firmware and software development and update tests accordingly.
  • Collect test results, run analytics on results and failures, and present clear findings.
  • Maintain and improve existing firmware tests to ensure reliability and coverage.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with multiple engineering teams to identify and resolve testing-related issues.
  • Support the conversion of all firmware and software in existing products to a new security program.
  • Create new firmware tests that validate functionality, performance, and security requirements.
  • Implement automated tests and integrate them into existing test frameworks and pipelines.
  • Document test procedures, test cases, and test results in a clear and organized manner.
  • Communicate test outcomes and regression findings across engineering teams and help drive corrective actions.
  • Program and execute automated firmware tests independently from day one.
  • Use test equipment and measurement equipment to validate firmware behavior and performance.
  • Evaluate firmware test effectiveness and recommend improvements to test coverage and methodology., The Firmware Test Engineer works in a technical, engineering-focused environment that centers on embedded systems and automated testing. You will use a combination of test equipment, measurement equipment, and software tools to validate firmware behavior and performance. The role involves regular interaction with multiple engineering teams, participation in ongoing development and security conversion initiatives, and hands-on work with automated test frameworks using technologies such as TypeScript, JavaScript, and GitHub Actions. The position is designed for semi-autonomous work, where you take ownership of test creation, execution, and analysis while collaborating closely with peers in a professional, results-driven setting.
