Systems/Network Administrator

The Florida Virtual School (FLVS) is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to coordinate the day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of enterprise-wide server systems. The selected consultant will provide technical support, configuration, and maintenance for physical and virtual server environments hosting enterprise packaged and custom applications. The consultant will ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of enterprise-class systems while proactively monitoring system health, reviewing application logs, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing solutions. The role requires strong expertise in Microsoft Windows Server, Linux (RHEL), networking infrastructure, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and enterprise IT environments. The selected candidate will collaborate with technical teams, end-users, vendors, and management to support infrastructure operations, implement new systems, improve processes, and maintain technical documentation. Responsibilities:- The selected consultant will perform, but not be limited to, the following activities: Administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise server systems to ensure continuous availability and reliable operations. Perform physical inspections and proactively review application logs, system consoles, and server performance. Investigate system warnings, errors, incidents, and reported issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Develop action plans, participate in peer reviews, and document, test, and implement technical solutions. Deploy, configure, maintain, and support Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, preferably versions 2016 through 2022. Deploy, configure, maintain, and support Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8). Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless devices. Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database environments. Implement and maintain enterprise server systems in accordance with documented implementation plans and change management procedures. Respond to incidents, service requests, and support tickets through the designated problem management system. Coordinate technical support, troubleshooting, and repair activities with vendors and on-site personnel. Identify opportunities to improve and streamline infrastructure support processes and operational procedures. Prepare technical recommendations to enhance system administration and support services. Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configuration records. Design and plan infrastructure implementations and projects based on customer requirements, industry best practices, and vendor recommendations. Collaborate with internal IT teams, business departments, technicians, and management to ensure successful project delivery. Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and training to technicians while promoting knowledge-sharing and team collaboration. Provide bi-weekly status reports and communicate project progress, outstanding issues, and potential risks to management. Maintain effective working relationships with end-users, technical teams, vendors, and other departments. Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks, adherence to schedules, and compliance with established operational procedures. Perform additional job-related duties and responsibilities as required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years of IT work experience. 3 5 years of experience maintaining and supporting network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless devices. Experience deploying, administering, and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, preferably versions 2016 2022. Experience deploying, administering, and maintaining Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8). Experience supporting and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server database environments. Experience supporting and maintaining MySQL database environments. Strong expertise in supporting multiple enterprise-class server systems and IT environments. Strong knowledge of server administration, infrastructure troubleshooting, system monitoring, and incident management. Strong interpersonal, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and departments and contribute to successful project delivery. Ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, accountability, and effective time management. Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). CompTIA Network+. Nutanix Certified Professional Multi-cloud Infrastructure (NCP-MCI). Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, availability required between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST Telecommute: 100% Remote (Candidates must reside within the USA)
