Job description
GCB Services LLC is hiring a Field Integrator / Installer to install, integrate, and commission Ericsson RAN equipment on Verizon macro, small cell, and in-building sites. The role owns the site from equipment install through on-air and closeout: physical install, cabling, power-up, local integration, call testing, and documentation that passes customer review the first time.
- Reports to: Construction / Integration Manager
- Location: Field-based; travel to other markets as assigned
- Type: Full-time, non-exempt
- Schedule: Day and night shifts; maintenance-window cutovers (typically 00:00 06:00 local) required
Key responsibilities: installation
- Install Ericsson baseband units (Baseband 5216/6630/6648 and current-generation equivalents) and RAN processors in cabinets, shelters, and indoor racks per approved RFDS and construction drawings
- Install, mount, and connect radios (AIR / Radio 4xxx, 8xxx series) at ground level and on towers/rooftops with certified climb teams as required
- Route, terminate, label, and test CPRI/eCPRI fiber, hybrid power/fiber trunks, DC power, and grounding to Ericsson and Verizon standards
- Install and terminate DC power: breaker/fuse assignment, power distribution, rectifier and battery connections, polarity and voltage verification
- Install GPS antennas and timing references; verify sync status
- Perform fiber inspection and cleaning (scope and clean every connector) and document results
- Perform sweep and PIM testing on coax and antenna systems where applicable; fiber OTDR/light-level testing on fronthaul
- Install and cut over transport/backhaul handoffs (router, CSR, or MPLS demarc) as scoped
- Decommission and remove legacy equipment; manage returns and inventory reconciliation
- Maintain site cleanliness, cable management, labeling, and workmanship to pass customer audit
Key responsibilities: integration and commissioning
- Perform local integration of Ericsson basebands: connect via EMLI/LMT, load software and site packages (SiteBasic, SiteEquipment, RN/TN scripts), and verify configuration against the integration package
- Coordinate with the remote integration team / NOC and Verizon market engineering to bring sites on air; work in Ericsson Manager (ENM) environment when access is granted
- Configure and validate transport: IP addressing, VLANs, routing, and OAM/traffic connectivity to the core
- Verify radio and cell status: unlock cells, clear alarms, confirm VSWR, RSSI/noise floor, and sector/carrier mapping (no swapped sectors or crossed feeds)
- Execute LTE and 5G NR call testing: voice, data throughput, handover, and CSFB/VoLTE as required by the test plan
- Troubleshoot and isolate faults across hardware, fiber, power, transport, and configuration; correct or escalate with clear findings
- Use Ericsson CLI tools (AMOS/MoShell) to read alarms, check MO states, pull logs and KGets, and collect diagnostics
- Support FSU, carrier add, and modernization cutovers inside maintenance windows, including rollback when criteria are not met
- Complete closeout package: photos, as-builts, test results, alarm-free screenshots, serial numbers, and site completion report, * Follows all site safety plans, JHA/JSA, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and RF exposure procedures
- Stops work when conditions are unsafe and reports incidents and near misses immediately
Physical requirements and work conditions
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; team lift above that
- Climb ladders and work at heights; work on rooftops, in shelters, and in confined equipment spaces
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Overnight maintenance windows, weekend cutovers, and multi-day travel with overnight stays as required
Requirements
- 3+ years hands-on wireless installation and/or integration experience
- Direct field experience with Ericsson RAN hardware (basebands and radios)
- Working knowledge of LTE and 5G NR site architecture: baseband-to-radio fronthaul, sectors and carriers, transport, timing
- Able to read and work from RFDS, construction drawings, integration packages, and method of procedure (MOP) documents
- Proficient with fiber scope/cleaning, light meter, and basic test equipment; sweep/PIM experience preferred if not required by market
- Comfortable with a laptop in the field: CLI, terminal sessions, IP configuration, file transfer
- Clear written and verbal communication with remote integrators, NOC, and customer engineers
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Able to obtain site access credentials required by the customer and site owners, * Prior Verizon market experience (site access process, closeout standards, CIQ/RFDS conventions)
- Experience with AMOS/MoShell scripting and ENM
- Ericsson training or certification on Baseband, Radio System, or RAN integration
- Experience with in-building / DAS / Ericsson Radio Dot System (DOT) deployments
