Job description

This position suits a Data Engineer or Software Engineer with recent experience delivering cloud data migrations.

The main focus is moving customer data from existing systems into cloud-based platforms. Alongside project delivery, the role involves developing migration tools, improving data pipelines and resolving integration challenges.

The position combines independent project ownership with close collaboration across development, infrastructure and product teams. Office attendance is required twice per week in South West London.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of migration projects, from understanding source data through to transfer, validation and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and improve ETL pipelines using Python, MySQL and AWS.
  • Build migration tools and supporting applications, connecting legacy PHP/C# systems with modern .NET services.
  • Develop .NET microservices with effective monitoring and integration into wider platforms.
  • Configure and improve AWS infrastructure to support secure, scalable data processing.
  • Maintain data quality, lineage, governance and traceability throughout the migration process.
  • Support AI and machine learning projects through reliable datasets, structured models and accessible metadata.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices, deployment processes and engineering standards.
  • Share technical knowledge, mentor junior colleagues and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience in data engineering, software engineering or a related discipline, including recent cloud migration work.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong AWS experience, particularly EC2, S3 and Lambda, alongside experience with EKS and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong MySQL skills and a sound understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Development experience with C#, .NET Core, Python, PHP and React.
  • Experience building ETL pipelines and integrating data across legacy and modern systems.
  • Confidence using Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience supporting AI-related projects or AI/ML data workflows.
  • Knowledge of data governance, monitoring, observability and GDPR requirements.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Spark or Flink.
  • Ability to contribute technical direction, support junior colleagues and explain complex issues clearly.
  • Existing UK right to work, as sponsorship is unavailable.

Benefits & conditions

  • Basic salary up to £58,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus opportunity.
  • Medical insurance.
  • 10% employer pension contribution.
  • 25 days’ annual leave.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Work-from-home and wellbeing allowances.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Ongoing development and opportunities for career progression.

About the company

  • Join an established international software business investing in its technology and growing its engineering team.
  • Develop your expertise across cloud technologies, data migration and modern software platforms through varied, hands-on projects.
  • Build towards technical leadership, with opportunities to mentor junior colleagues and explore career moves across the wider business.

About the Company

An established software business is growing its engineering team to support increasing customer demand. Its platforms help organisations manage day-to-day operations, with reliable data playing a central role in bringing new customers onto its systems.

The business offers a collaborative working environment, varied technical projects and opportunities to progress across its wider engineering teams.
