Software Developer (Java / Spring Boot)

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer to design, build and maintain secure,high-quality Java services for public sector digital programmes. You will work in multidisciplinary agile teams, take part in technical design, and provide technical leadership by setting standards, reviewing work and supporting other engineers., * Design, build and maintain Java and Spring Boot applications, including RESTful APIs.

• Develop and evolve a micro services architecture, keeping services loosely coupled,

scalable and resilient.

• Write clean, maintainable and secure code, following agreed standards and best

practice.

• Write automated tests, including unit tests with JUnit, and practise test-driven

development.

• Take part in technical design, and explain design options and trade-offs to developers,

architects and stakeholders.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines so changes are tested and released reliably.
• Deploy and run services on AWS and Azure.
• Review code and designs, and give constructive feedback.
• Provide agile technical leadership: guide the team on technical decisions, mentor

developers and help unblock complex problems.

• Investigate and fix defects, and support services in live.

What We are Looking For Essential:

• Strong, hands-on experience of Java and Spring Boot.

• Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code (for example Terraform).
• Cloud or Java certifications.
• Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers.
