Senior Java Backend Developer

Creates and leads the technical design and development of robust backend microservices and APIs. Proposes & designs backend software solutions to address complex business needs. Prepares technical and architectural documentation required. Facilitates complex problem resolution within distributed services, message brokers, and enterprise data flows. Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues. Reviews coding, testing, and documentation of backend services. Applies modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance backend engineering capabilities.

Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized backend solutions.

Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support the company’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ Years of overall IT experience preferably in a large banking / financial institution environment.
• Java 21 and Spring Boot enterprise development
• API Development (RESTful services, microservices architecture)
• Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) & Data Streaming Platforms (DSP) using Apache Kafka
• Database management with Oracle (preferred), SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
• Containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Working understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment mechanics (Jenkins integration with OpenShift)
• Backend-first development approach (strong aversion to UI-centric full-stack profiles)
