Full-Stack Developer (Backend Focus)

• Build and maintain Django REST API endpoints, clinical records, and multi-tenant data routing
• Build React/Vite frontend components including dashboards, forms, modals, and real-time updates
• Write and review database migrations following additive-only practices no critical changes without explicit sign-off
• Test all changes on staging before production, nothing goes to production untested
• Participate in code review and maintain clean, documented code as features ship
• Identify bugs, flag blockers early, and communicate clearly on what is in progress and what is done

• 1 to 3 years of experience in software development or a strong portfolio of personal or open source projects
• Python – comfortable writing functions, classes, and working with libraries
• Django basics – understands models, views, URLs, migrations, and how the ORM works
• React – can build functional components with hooks, manage state, and make API calls
• Git – knows how to branch, commit, push, and open a pull request without breaking things
• Linux command line – can SSH into a server, navigate directories, and run commands
• SQL basics – can read a query, understand joins, and write a simple migration
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right the first time
• Comfortable asking questions before guessing, especially on anything that touches patient data
• Must reside in Southern California and be available for one in-person day per week
• Must be authorized to work in the United States, Experience in healthcare or regulated software is preferred but not required. Exposure to any of the following is a plus:
• AWS services
• PostgreSQL
• HIPAA-compliant software development
• WebSockets or real-time features
• Docker or containerization basics
• EHR systems or healthcare data standards

You do not need to know everything. You do need to be the kind of developer who figures things out, communicates clearly when something is unclear, and never ships code they are not confident in. Experience is helpful but attitude and work ethic matter more at this level.

AIVA MD is looking for a Full-Stack Developer with a strong backend focus to join our engineering team.

You will need to know Django (Python), React, PostgreSQL, and AWS. Everything is written from scratch on a clean stack we own and operate entirely. No legacy code, no shortcuts. We build for healthcare, which means correctness and security are non-negotiable.

This role is for someone who wants to build something real, learn fast, and work closely with the leadership team. You will not be handed a ticket queue and left alone. You will be in the details with us every day.
