Job description
As Development Manager, you’ll plan the events, build the donor relationships and keep the data behind our fundraising accurate. You’ll report to the Director of Development and work closely with patients, caregivers, volunteers and donors. We’re a small, close-knit team, so your work will be visible and it will matter.
What you’ll do
Run events that raise money and bring people together
- Plan and manage fundraising from registration through onsite execution, including logistics, materials, shipping, vendors and attendee communications.
- Prepare attendee reports and post-event follow-up and make sure registration details are right before anything goes out.
- Find and secure new corporate sponsors.
Build lasting donor relationships
- Cultivate donors and support the board and staff with solicitations, meeting scheduling and donor communications.
- Make sure every donor is thanked promptly and personally, through letters, calls and notes, including in-honor and in-memory gifts.
- Help write fundraising appeals and manage our GEMs giving program.
Keep our data and outreach running smoothly
- Manage donor records in DonorPerfect and build and maintain GoFundMePro fundraising and event pages.
- Build and send email lists and campaigns in Constant Contact.
- Produce and share reports that show how events, campaigns and donors are performing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of measurable fundraising experience at a nonprofit
- A record of raising money from both corporations and individuals (experience asking for gifts in person is a plus)
- Experience with donor and event platforms such as DonorPerfect and GoFundMe Pro; working knowledge of Constant Contact, JotForm and Zoom/Teams
- Advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook skills, and the ability to pull data and build lists quickly and accurately
- A strong, original voice. You write your own appeals and donor emails and come up with your own ideas, without relying on AI tools.
- A self-starter with a strong work ethic who takes ownership, manages projects well and juggles several priorities at once
- Warmth and ease in talking with patients undergoing cancer treatment and their caregivers
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends and travel for events, and willingness to pitch in on team projects
