Job description

Reporting to the Product Director, you’ll help shape product priorities and turn roadmap direction into clear, actionable work for the development team.

You’ll bring together customer insight, commercial goals and technical input to decide what matters most - and help the team understand why. You’ll work across discovery, delivery and release, assessing whether the changes we make achieve their intended outcomes.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working closely with customers and developers, making practical decisions and adapting as a growing business evolves.

What you’ll do

Shape priorities and keep delivery focused

  • Work with the Product Director to develop and refine the roadmap.
  • Own and prioritise the backlog, balancing customer value, commercial impact, technical needs and delivery effort.
  • Make trade-offs clear and explain the reasoning behind priorities.
  • Give the development team the context and clarity they need to deliver effectively.

Bring customer needs into product decisions

  • Gather insight from customers, partners and internal teams.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions to understand problems and explore potential solutions.
  • Balance opportunities across the wider product with commitments to key customers.
  • Define what success looks like and use feedback and available data to assess results.

Support quality from discovery to release

  • Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead backlog refinement and contribute to sprint planning.
  • Work with the team on testing, user acceptance testing and release readiness.
  • Improve how we discover, prioritise and deliver product changes.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Product Owner in a SaaS environment.
  • Evidence of taking features or improvements from discovery through to release.
  • Sound commercial judgement, with the ability to explain the value of a priority and the trade-offs involved.
  • Experience balancing competing customer and business needs.
  • Confidence working with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • A practical approach to agile delivery, including writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps.

CSPO or an equivalent certification would be welcome, but isn’t essential.
