Job description

  1. Remote telemetry collection - gathering data from devices in the field and getting it back reliably

  2. Event-based data processing and notifications - detecting events in incoming data and managing the alerts and notifications they trigger

  3. Remote device control - sending commands to field devices, driven by data and events

  4. Dashboards - web-based GUIs that present live and historical data to users

  5. AI-powered applications - building software that uses AI models (such as LLM APIs and agents) to analyze data, automate work and deliver new capabilities

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Build and improve features across the stack: front-end UI, back-end APIs and the database work behind them
  • Use AI-driven development tools (coding assistants and agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor) every day to plan, write, test, review and document code - and check their output with sound engineering judgment
  • Define and deploy cloud infrastructure as code using frameworks such as SST or AWS CDK
  • Turn requirements from internal users and customers into working, tested code
  • Fix bugs, troubleshoot production issues and improve performance of existing applications
  • Write clean, readable code with automated tests, and take part in code reviews (giving and receiving)
  • Integrate with internal systems and third-party services through REST APIs
  • Document what you build so others can support and extend it
  • Work closely with senior developers, IT and business stakeholders to plan and estimate work

Requirements

You’ll join a small development team where your work ships to real users quickly. We’re looking for someone early in their career - from new grad up to about 3 years of hands-on experience - who can take a well-defined feature from idea to production with guidance, and who wants to grow fast., * 0-3 years of professional, internship or substantial project experience building web applications - new grads welcome

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, plus HTML and CSS
  • Experience with at least one modern front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue or similar)
  • Some back-end experience - Node.js or another server-side language - and building or consuming REST APIs
  • Comfort with SQL and relational databases
  • Everyday use of Git and a collaborative workflow (branches, pull requests, code review)
  • AI-driven development: hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or agents in your workflow, or the drive to learn them quickly - AI-assisted development is a core part of how this team works
  • Clear communication, curiosity, and the habit of asking good questions
  • A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (bootcamp, self-taught, portfolio)

Nice to have

None of these are required - if you have most of the list above, we’d like to hear from you.

  • Experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools (SST, AWS CDK, Terraform or similar)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker) or automated deployment
  • Exposure to authentication and web security basics (OAuth, OWASP Top 10)
  • Exposure to IoT or telemetry systems and protocols (MQTT, Modbus or similar)
  • Experience with event streaming or message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Event Hubs or similar)
  • Familiarity with time-series databases or charting and dashboard libraries
  • Experience building with AI model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock or similar), including prompts, retrieval (RAG) or agents
  • A portfolio, GitHub profile or app we can look at

Benefits & conditions

  • Mentorship from senior developers and a clear path to a mid-level role

  • 10 vacation days and 5 sick days per year
  • 401(k) retirement plan eligibility, * 401(k)
