Job description

The LabVIEW Test Engineer develops and supports end-of-line test equipment and software to enable successful launch and production of new and existing products. This role focuses on creating innovative test solutions, supporting LabVIEW-based evaluation of new products, and troubleshooting electro-mechanical test systems to maximize manufacturing uptime and efficiency within a cross-functional engineering environment., * Develop innovative end-of-line test equipment solutions to support existing products and new product introductions.

  • Design, implement, and maintain LabVIEW applications for evaluation and testing of new products.
  • Work as an embedded member of a cross-functional engineering team to coordinate and support the release of new products.
  • Apply analytical and software problem-solving skills to troubleshoot electro-mechanical test systems and equipment.
  • Optimize utilization and effectiveness of test systems by identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Support manufacturing operations by maximizing uptime in assembly cells through enhancements to established equipment and test processes.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to manufacturing test equipment to improve reliability, throughput, and quality.
  • Specify and generate detailed design documentation to support new product introductions and test system changes.
  • Use electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs) and oscilloscopes to perform troubleshooting and validation.
  • Support harness building and related electrical test activities as needed.
  • Work with SQL Server databases to manage, analyze, and report test data from production and development environments.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure test solutions meet product and process requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in test methodologies, tools, and data analysis.
  • Support new product development activities by providing test engineering expertise and feedback on design for testability., The role operates within an industrial division that supplies components and sub-systems for on- and off-highway vehicles, including medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses, construction and agricultural equipment, materials handling vehicles, and specialized mobility products such as wheelchairs and scooters. The environment involves working with state-of-the-art drivetrain components, by-wire and mechanical transmission shifters, and electronic control systems for hybrid electric vehicle applications. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams in a production-oriented setting, using tools such as LabVIEW, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, harnesses, SQL Server databases, and automotive diagnostic equipment including CAN analysis tools. The position is structured initially as a three-month contract with the potential to extend or convert to a full-time role, reflecting an uptick in business and an expanding workload. The culture emphasizes innovation in new product development, customer-specific solutions, and continuous improvement of test and manufacturing processes, in a professional technical environment.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in test engineering or a closely related engineering role.
  • Hands-on LabVIEW development experience for test and measurement applications.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and testing skills for electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency using digital multimeters (DMMs) and oscilloscopes for diagnostics and validation.
  • Experience with harness building and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server databases for storing and retrieving test data.
  • Ability to analyze test data and use software tools to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience with hardware and embedded systems in an automotive or vehicle-related environment.
  • Familiarity with tools such as oscilloscopes and CAN analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer) for system-level debugging.
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering is preferred; other engineering or related disciplines are also acceptable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with automotive or off-highway vehicle components and subsystems.
  • Background in drivetrain components, electronic control systems, or hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications.
  • Experience integrating hardware, C++ software, and data systems within test environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Strong documentation skills for creating clear test procedures, specifications, and design records.
  • Interest in new product development and supporting products from concept through production.
  • Adaptability to take on increased workload due to business growth and evolving project needs., Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
