Job description
The Sources Squad connects GitGuardian to the platforms our customers want to protect, from GitHub and GitLab to Slack, Jira and AWS. It ensures the reliability of the integrations and scans that detect exposed secrets. As the number of customers, sources and data grows, our challenge is to maintain high reliability and ensure continuous protection.
You’ll join a team of 6 engineers (5 backend and 1 frontend) and an Engineering Manager, working closely with a Product Manager, a Designer and a Staff Engineer.
You’ll help scale our integrations, strengthen system resilience and observability, and improve the user experience around source and scan management. You’ll also tackle production issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent them from happening again.
You’ll work on a large-scale Django application with a high level of ownership, from technical design through deployment and production monitoring. We encourage initiative, collaboration, technical excellence, and the everyday use of AI and agentic engineering, while ensuring that everyone takes ownership of the code they ship.
Technical environment
- Backend: Python (Django) 90%, Rust 10%
- Frontend: JavaScript (React), TypeScript, React Query, Jest
- DB: PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- Observability: Coralogix, Sentry, Grafana
- Deployment: ArgoCD, GitLab CI, Terraform
- Runtime: Kubernetes (Karpenter, Istio)
- Cloud providers: AWS and OVH
- Message brokering: RabbitMQ, Redis
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in web development, with strong, recent production experience in Python and Django: ORM performance, transactions, migrations on large tables, SQL optimization
- Solid software engineering fundamentals: clean, tested code, sound data structures, care for performance, methodical debugging
- Experience handling production incidents end-to-end: assessing impact, communicating status, fixing, finding the root cause and preventing recurrence
- The ability to own a project or feature end-to-end: from scoping with Product and Design, to technical design, implementation, deployment, and monitoring
- Autonomy paired with clear, frequent communication: you deliver in small increments, share progress and blockers early, and write updates others can act on
- Strong proficiency in AI-assisted and agentic development workflows, while staying accountable for every line you ship
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to move from high-level discussions to deep technical dives, Experience with distributed systems, async pipelines and third-party API integrations (rate limits, pagination, webhooks, retries and idempotency)
- Hands-on use of observability tools (logs, metrics, traces, error tracking) to investigate and improve production systems
- Experience with a large monolithic codebase, and an interest in refactoring and building reliable systems
- Ability to push a simple feature all the way to the frontend (React / TypeScript)
